DStv decoder, dish and installation price cut

Fox = American = Latest shows.
NBC = American = Latest Shows

You do know we aren't getting the SAME channel content as in America? Somebody mentioned they are showing CSI: Miami season 1. Not what I would call "latest shows".

DSTV WERE RIPPING THE PUBLIC BY THE TONS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally got hooked up with TopTV and is thoroughly enjoying it so far.

Loving Kerrang! (Rock music video channel).

Still got to get used to the layout but it's very quick to pick things up.

Gone are the days of DSTV's rip-off services.

I recommend TopTV to students/people who are not earning the mega bucks.

N.B. There is no sport channel as of yet but I'm sure TopTV will come up with something pretty soon ;)

DSTV WERE RIPPING THE PUBLIC, SHOULD BOYCOTT OR MOVE OVER TO TOP TV

MultiChoice however warned that this is also a promotional special, and that the price will only hold whilst stocks lasts. “Customers can get this special package at all major retailers and furniture groups,” MultiChoice said.

Don't worry guys, according to multichoice, the special will be running for a very very very long time.

Competition is a good thing! Want to c wat die next move will be of DSTV.

What's in the new DSTV package? Which decoder and which dish?

Apples with apples please.

Nochoice's package is a special, effectively on right now,and you comparing it to Toptv's standard price, which is nowhere valid...and never was.

DStv COMPACT VS TTV

Dstv = 44 Channels an no good sports no good Movies no good Children programs @ R232

TTV = 50+/- Channels now sport @ R249

thinking it might not be a bad idea to tell monochoice to make a very rapid sexual departure (the polite way of sayng fsck off) and going the top tv route. the favourites list thing seems like an awesome idea. does it work on channells or shows however?

Sob, I just saw an advert for a triple play package from Virgin on TopTV, 18 pounds a month for 65 channels, up to 10Mbps data and telephone. Are we being ripped here or what?!!

oh the favoirites are based on channels so a quick way to see whats on your faves is to keep pressing the blue button as the decoder cycles round your fave channels in cyclical order. The whats on list works similar to dstv except you can sort and display only the category you are interested in eg news or even just your favourites, then browse ahead in time and set autotune etc as per dstv.

..and while your doing that, you get a nice picture in picture with sound so you dont miss whats currently on.

Viva TopTV !!! ..but guys ,really, TopTV is not yet a 'direct' competitor to DSTV, as they have the sport and the 'newer' movie content..

-Movie channels are no good or better than DSTV
-Fox Retro is real nice if you like the old series, Chips, Quincy, McGuyver, Inspector Gadget etc..
- the knowledge and science stuff is better than DSTV , Discovery Science, Discovery Investigation, Natura
- News channels are better
- cartoon channels are far better

They have only just entered the market, and are heavily subsidising their decoders etc , and at their low subs prices
you cannot expect latest movie content.. DSTV also started out so..

but finally :) we have some form of competition :) ..still more to come !!!

6-7 week lead time on installations according to Pep (decoders hidden behind counter).

I am miffed at the fact that Multichoice doesnt treat its existing customers well. I mean, they drop the price for new consumers, but bugger the consumers that support them and pay R500 a month... Really disappointing!

OK so wait, MultiChoice are selling their decoder packages at a price that undercuts Top TV's standard decoder package price, but probably only as long as the R499 Top TV bundles are on promotion for?

What's the point of that?

And it has less to do with the installation cost and more to do with the monthly subscriptions.
