DStv decoder prices drop, new channel added

WoW R100 and R50 discount how funny in America the festive specials drop prices by 50% or more :P

was hoping for the HD Decoder to drop to R1000

so a repeats channel for the content thats already repeated a few hundred times  and its only for christmas- makes me want to go out and buy a decoder...just for christmas.

Shocking, They need to rework their business model. Their saving grace is Supersport.

sorry this is not worth mentioning, save R50 off a decoder? who cares, drop the subs with 150 now that would be news.

With the amount of income they generate now, they should be giving their entry level decoders away for free or at least make you sign a six month contract and give you the decoder for free. However this is another former monopoly which is only focused on short term profits and making a half arsed attempt to compete with Top TV's special.

I wonder what made them think that R 50 off a entry level decoder will make it more affordable for people to get DSTV at their insane rates? "Save R50.00 now so that you can pay us R 6 000.00 over the next 12 months". Yes I know there are cheaper packages, but then rather go for TopTV as you don't get all the sport anyway on the cheaper DSTV packages.

Wow they reduced the price of their already cheap and crappy outdated decoder. Never mind the 1110 which was only R300 and miles better than the new "cheap" as in rubbish decoder.
Where else is it news that they are going to show MORE repeats on a "brand new" channel?

SOLUTION TO WIN Customers over

1) HDTV decoder without the pvr = less cost + more people would want this (Theres a whole lot of people with HD/HD Ready TV's just not willing to pay R550 for fliping 5 channels of HD)
2) TOPtv gets heavy weight channels such as MTV, NGO, SCI-FI, Cartoon Network

Problems gone =)

A R100 bucks off the HD decoder - whoopdedoo, I bought mine from HiFi corp for R1699 in June\July.

If the subs do go up next year, something needs to be done and people need to make a stand.

MultiChoice today announced that it will be adding a new holiday channel to its DStv bouquets. The M-199 channel, previously known as the M-Net holiday channel, gives subscribers the opportunity to catch up on their favourite series or movie that they might have missed during the year.

Wow MonoChoice how creative, providing a Summary Channel to summarise all your repeats that we have seen all year round. Monochoice, MTN, Vodacom really belong in the past. Oh and that R50 cut is no Xmas saving because come April you will increase your subscription by the same R50. If only Top TV can get sports i.e. FA, La Liga, and Seria A then will move to them.

This is looking pretty good from where I'm standing. Switched DSTV off in April when the Premium went over my threshold and I really couldn't afford it anymore. Luckily it was just in time for Uncapped internet. :) So now I watch my news & big sport events live and I have to admit there are some decent channels online with great series.
But now I'm simply going to switch my DSTV on every December and catch up on all my old shows I use to watch.
Think of it like this: You get a Service exactly like DSTV without any repeats at a saving of R6600 a year lol.:D
