We have a SD-PVR which uses TV1 in the Lounge and TV2 in the Bedroom.
Now we would like to have HD option in the lounge.
The Explora is out the question as it costs too much.
I do not wish to depart with the SD-PVR as it works like a dream, but of course, no HD.
What decoder can I use in the lounge and how do I connect it to the SD-PVR to maintain the dual view ?

You get the hd decoder from dstv that's r400 or so, not sure it's compatible with the sd pvr as that's old and bring discontinued

Thanks Smurfatefrog, no problem in SDVPR being secondary.
How do I connect the 2 together and do I need another sim card ?
Currently I have dual LNB and both cables go into the SDVPR.

You may need a new smart card for the SD PVR you wil need to test that later, the HD will come with one
All you need a multi switch (2x4 would be sufficient), and some cables and connectors - all available at a makro game etc, check arond to save costs the HD decoder is also available every where so check around for good deal (Kalahari used to be cheapest not sure if Takealot is as well)
take the 2 LNB cables and connect it to the multi switch.
Out of the multi switch 1 Cable will go into your new HD decoder, and 2 will go into your SD PVR
the connect one cable from the RF in (or rf out up to you go to xtra view setting and make sure the same one you use is selected) of your HD to the Rf in of the SD PVR.
On the SD PVR go to MENU, select Advanced Options, select TV Installation select TV Link Set-up, select TV Link Set-up and change setting to enabled.
On the SD PVR, press MENU, select Information, check Add2 Status. If the status reads "requires smart card upgrade" you need to go to DSTV to get a new Smart Card.

once all done and connected call DSTV to activate xtra view make sure to note of all you Decoders serial numbers and smart card numbers before you call to save time

The single view HD decoder is not XtraView compatible with an SD PVR.

All PVRs** can be used in an XtraView set-up, although the SD PVR can only be used as a secondary decoder and cannot be linked with any of the single view decoders.
