DStv entry level decoder special offer here until April

Does anyone really care if the price is R399,00 or R599.00? :/

It's the monthly costs that are high!
 
DStv sucks.

Still ripping off the SA consumers...their prices are 50% of most peoples monthly salary.

The only reason for the 'special' is because the Cricket and Rugby world cup is around the corner.

And let us not forget the Tri Nations and Super 14.

This is just a ploy to up the sales.
 
Well I have moved from dstv to toptv and im over the moon.For R300 I got a dish and dsd

Go into any shop and you will find stock for dstv not much for toptv

Im thinking that this is dstv's last marketing move,cause dstv wouldnt really feel it,most people who buy toptv never had dstv,go figure!

It matters not, does it. Multichoice are coining it and whatever they can get for the hardware is bonus :(
 
Damn can't they see that we consumers don't care that much about the price of the decoders but the monthly charges. They can make it R2000 for the entry level but make monthly sub R250 for the premium and a choice to choose own channels. The reason I have this ish is sport and nothing more.
 
Who cares... MultiChoice's issue is that they started out charging way too much, now they suck, they've the business model on X income... shareholders will hear nothing of X-20%... cause it will eat directly into their pockets! TopTV will grow slowly, and DSTV will stagnate slowly but surely... watch out for the fireworks when the major sport contracts are re-negotiated... I'm pretty sure MultiChoice is already sucking up behind the scenes... and there will be backhanded deals... it's the way of SA business... just look how busy the Competition Commission is!

DSTV is not for the SA masses... it only caters for upper middle class and the wealthy!
 
On a slightly different note - I got the Drifta today and can report that its a fantastic little device. Busy watching the opening ceremony at the moment and can only report good things. Activation was quick and easy. Frame rate a touch slow but still brilliant for what it is. Definitely worth the price for 12 months of free mobile access.... sorry i know this doesn't really belong here.... just thought i'd squeeze it in ;-)

I see DSTV dishes up on shacks & mud huts. Middles class you say? Apparently they have a million compact subscribers attracted by the local soccer offering.
 
Wish there was another proper service provider as opposed to DSTV.

TopTV is dissapointing as an alternative to DSTV, everyone was making a big hype about them, almost everyone I know who owns a TopTV decoder complains about them, 2 friends have even gone back to DSTV. The "but they started now while the other companies have been there for a long time, give them time" excuse is poor, no one is going to wait 10 or 20 years and support you untill you have a good product, if you can not be competitive at this moment, you are going to fall out. Example CellC stopped with that excuse and actually went ahead and tried something to place it ahead of the other providers, and it looks like its working.
 
They should give the stuff for free when u sign-up with them. Who said our ISPs are behind? they offer free adsl modem when u signup..
 
Wow. Seems there are a lot of complaints. Is this the 'multichoice consumer complaints forum' or you guys just getting rid of frustrations?

Surely there must be some power that you, as the customers/consumers, have over Multichoice. You are paying their salaries you know. If you're unhappy with the service then get the masses together (the South African way) and boycott the service! Strike! Strike!
