DStv Flex - MultiChoice's plan for a configurable DStv Premium service

R300 for the base entertainment package is way over priced, considering that Netflix is R165 for 4K, Amazon Prime is around R89 and Disney+ will launch at under R150.

The market based price for the base package should be around R150.

Looks like MultiChoice are soon not going to be able to afford to overpay for sports packages so they can get exclusive broadcast rights

Myself and family are happy with the local list, and I know of many people outside the tech community who are quite content with the offering from netflix.
 
So hopefully the next step is to offer just a sports package.. R399 for the full sports package would be fair I. M. O

Same here. Used to a rabid fanatic. Now I couldn't care less about men in shorts running around on a field somewhere. Somewhere a switch just flicked, and I found better things to do on weekends.

Outside of sports fans, does anyone actually still have DSTV premium? I would love to see the figures. Even my almost 80year old parents have switched to streaming. Hell even my sports fanatic friends have cancelled and just go watch in a pub.

I suspect their only reason for existence is that having a satellite dish is seen as a status symbol in some townships. But that too will end as fiber and wifi starts becoming the status symbol de rigueur.

Price is only so high for the sports people, the ones who never watch sports can finally cut the expensive thing off. You can also turn it off when you don't need it.

You don't have to, with DSTV Catchup or a PVR. I've not had ads since PVR has been around and even better since Catchup.

It touched that yeah and it did that last year for a bit too. But the fact that it's still over 100 isn't bad for now and it was actually May that it, it's high.

Based on profit results that price is well below the actual value of the company, stories about Netflix and Disney+ causing FUD in the market

There was the billions owing to Nigeria on the news as well that would've affected share pricing.

I'm keen to give it a go to see how it works but I can't find it. Wonder when it will be available?

Quite a lot, last I heard. I have access to it, not sure I would pay for it anymore as content value has certainly dropped.

Hmmm.... hope it lasts, they've been experimenting with ads popping up sometimes when you pause catch up.

It's just in concept stage still, I think I saw it was launched in Namibia a couple of months back though.

Sadly the ads popping up on catchup is annoying, but it's not like it is actually a problem, you've paused :-)
