DStv gets more satellite capacity

Just buy them an Explora. This prices have been dropped to R1500 and you can get it on promotion for as little as R1200. Sometimes life is too short to battle on with redundant technology.
 
What does this effectively mean for DSTV subscribers? Can we expect to see more channels launched soon? Are we gonna see 180i transmissions? What are the mission objectives?

The fan replacement is a piece of cake to do ---- can even install a better one with double the airflow .... So that is a very poor excuse.

But The SD PVR is to some of us like a vintage car, we love the thing to bits. We do not care about the UI, its looks or why some believe it is slow. It is the dual view functionality and shared record capability that we are after.

MC is as usual not very open about what they intend to do, other than to P off all those with older decoders.

Rumour has it that the goal is convert all channels to HD quality, leaving the SD versions on the old satellite, which implies that all existing HD channels will move onto the new satellite at some stage or other.

There was a special on recently somewhere where you could get an Explora for R599.00 (or if you prefer, R599,00)! This added fuel to another rumour about a new release of Explora on the way .....

So DSTV are already licking their lips for the next price increase. They need to pay for this baby.

The only reason for the Explora "price drop" is because it does not come with the multi-switch anymore.
Explora R1500 + Smart-LNB/Multiswitch R500 == R2000
Not really a discount , huh?

The decoder is build around security. Then comes the tv part.
 
All I hear is "get ready for price increases :(" I don't hear anything about better HD picture (1080p), or more HD channels.

DSTV Explorer wipes the floor with crappy Sky PVR's. Sky's UI etc is horrible in comparison. I miss that Explorer.
