DStv Now has a new name

“We’ve changed the name from DStv Now – but kept all the features the same – you can stream your live channels and watch catch up too,” the company said.
MonoChoice must be preparing to rename DSTV to DSTV Yesteryear (the Now thing would obviously clash with those plans).

Thanks to cancelling my DSTV subscription I have managed to find streaming options for the only thing they have a monopoly on. Live sports broadcasts. RIP DSTV now.

No video preview when hovering over a title.
No skip intro button
If you want to skip forward manually the video progress bar does not pop up an image so you have to guess when you passed the intro
The streaming quality is horrendous. I can stream Netflix comfortably at 720p while downloading.
I can't stream Dstv comfortably at any P when it's the only thing open on my PC.

And they want to start a 'streaming service' at 4 times the cost?

Fark off Dstv

Recently watched also does not work, often it also loses all the recently watched channels.
In the home screen, it shows what is playing on most channels, switch to live tv and those same channels are blank.
Timebar on channels are far behind, it will show the show is still running, if you open the channel it is finished already.

DStv Now has a new name

MultiChoice has renamed its DStv Now streaming service to DStv, signalling the first step towards the full launch of its standalone streaming service.

It's interesting that you chose the accurate, meaningful, practical, and frankly much appreciated title "DStv Now has a new name" when you posted the article link in the forum, yet a clickbait - almost completely false - title was used on the actual article.

@Bradley Prior , could you explain why?

DSTV has got this wrong if you want your data base to move to online streaming how can you charge the same as price. They are saving costs on not manufacturing decoders that should be passed onto the customer. Almost R1K a month is excessive for streaming the full package. They need to come with a better plan.

I was just talking about catchup.
Live TV is an even bigger disaster.

I cannot understand the thinking behind having to register a device and then having a limit on registered devices. Anyone out there can explain that to me like I am five? This applies to Showmax too.

Netflix has a viewing limit, but it doesn't care about your device.

480p and buffering comes standard still for most channels?

Proudly South Africa ... Change the name before fixing the problems :X3:

How about getting the server to remember the "My List" and "Recently Watched" channels ... Every now and then they're completely missing
Then give a guide that shows more than just the current and next show ... with realtime info

I have been doing this for as long as I have had the DTSV app on my phone. There's a specific amount of devices than can be online simultaneously, I just cannot remember how many.
Can have 4 devices registered but 2 simultaneous streaming.

But yes, as you indicated dish+decoder with xtra view can be used with 2 devices watching at the same.

Streaming quality still **** ? F- Dstv... You would have thought they increase the quality. I presume they stream from some dev box under his table with a 56k modem connection...
