DStv Now has a new name

MultiChoice has renamed its DStv Now streaming service to DStv, signalling the first step towards the full launch of its standalone streaming service.

“What we are trying to achieve is one set of products on multiple devices. There is not a new pricing tier for DStv if it is streamed,” Rayner said.

Quick comparison for the premium package using the Telkom 20mb ADSL uncapped package, as not everyone has access to fibre.

R749 + R799 = R1548... seems like a bargain said no one ever

“We’ve changed the name from DStv Now – but kept all the features the same

Yes, very BIG indeed

Can just imagine the high fiving and back slaps in the DSTV marketing boardroom as they up with the new name.

Bonuses for everyone!
That marketing dept is so chaotic they don't even know what they come up with asking you to send them the emails.

No video preview when hovering over a title.
No skip intro button
If you want to skip forward manually the video progress bar does not pop up an image so you have to guess when you passed the intro
The streaming quality is horrendous. I can stream Netflix comfortably at 720p while downloading.
I can't stream Dstv comfortably at any P when it's the only thing open on my PC.

And they want to start a 'streaming service' at 4 times the cost?

Fark off Dstv

They basically just changed the logo and made a big hoohah about it. Same useless functionality and dependency on old tech.

bunch of muppets.

Want to innovate...

Add the TV Guide to DSTV Now Android TV Edition

Phone edition has it.

The article still does not say if you will be able to stream via the app and also use dish+decoder simultaneously. Becuase I understand you will be able to do only one of these at a time in the future. Any info on this?

I have been doing this for as long as I have had the DTSV app on my phone. There's a specific amount of devices than can be online simultaneously, I just cannot remember how many.
