DStv Now hit by downtime

DStv has apologised to users of DStv Now – its online streaming service – for downtime at the start of the Springboks’ rugby world cup game against New Zealand.

DStv stated on Twitter that it apologises for the inconvenience caused by the downtime.

“Our tech team was informed of this issue and it was resolved,” it said.

No it wasn't.

2nd Half was pretty much unwatchable for me.
3secs play. 1min buffering.
5secs play. 30secs buffering,
1sec play, 1min buffering,
10secs play, 45secs buffering.

I followed the last 30min on Twitter and RSG. Even RSG bombed out with a few min left.

Didn't have interruptions. But there was a severe audio/video lag.

Downtime at the start

No, there were continuous issues. I even asked about it in the Rugby World Cup thread. It was a horrid experience. They shouldn't punt DStv Now as an alternative to watch the Rugby World Cup when this is the deliverable service level. Whatever caused the downtime was patched with inexperience, they probably didn't have the available resources to resolve the issue.

Poor, piss poor.

Itv was fine, had a disconnect at 25mins but back in minute and fine ask the way through to end. FHD worked better than the norm.

I wouldn’t be surprised that some local ISPs may have run into peering issues, limitations or disconnects.

/cough

they did the same thing last day of the EPL in may. it is not a sudden "hit by downtime" . this is orchestrated.

Or on your phone or android tv download TVMUCHO and watch for free on ITV for 60 minutes (daily free allocation). No vpn required and no sign up. Easy cheesy peasy.

Typical - SA devs are not on par with the international world.
