DStv Now hit by downtime

And my free hd steam didn't have any issues.

Devs code apps and services. If the network and sysops guys can't keep a server and link up there's not much a dev can do but complain :p

To be honest the people with full dstv would have watched it on tv and not streamed it. The streams are all borrowing accounts and Im assuming dstv dont like it.

Or people that might have full subscriptions but they went away for the long weekend? Camping, fishing etc.

Even so, they're punishing people for using a service in a way they don't like. They should rather build a service that's so good people want to buy it. Instead they choose to piss people off. Assuming this was deliberate on their part. If it wasn't deliberate and this is the quality of their service - that's just swak.
 
I saw regular DSTV have issues during the match. Several stutters, hiccups, and audio lags towards the end of the first half.

As always those who have not paid anything complain the loudest. I had no issues whatsoever using my decoder.
 
The same thing happened during MTN 8 Quarter finals so this raise questions about Dstv Now capacity etc

Between Cool Ideas being DDOS’d and DSTV Now’s inadequate software (really, a lookup for the user’s login and package details did that much of a number on them? Sounds like: no load balancing, no distributed servers, unoptimised SQL or poor database design or both), streaming online was a no go.

It’s the Rugby World Cup, in 2019, no **** there’s gonna be a lot of logins and people watching online. Get your act together...
 
DStv Now not the only streaming service that suffered

Spark Sport is seeking to appease rugby-obsessed New Zealanders who are furious at technical glitches that plagued its streaming service during the defending World Cup champion’s opening game at this year’s tournament.

The company decided to allow free-to-air coverage over TVNZ for some of Saturday’s 23-13 New Zealand victory over South Africa in Japan after video quality issues.

True, but if the dev's don't code an efficient app, to help the network and sysops guys, a vicious circle ...
