DStv Now hit by downtime

Lol it's not coincidence that DSTV now always goes down when there's something major happening. They know everyone piggybacking of someone else's account online so they'll just take it down for that time

DStv Now hit by downtime

DStv has apologised to users of DStv Now – its online streaming service – for downtime at the start of the Springboks’ rugby world cup game against New Zealand.

DStv stated on Twitter that it apologises for the inconvenience caused by the downtime.

“Our tech team was informed of this issue and it was resolved,” it said.
Lucky. The Boks were krap. Back the low skilled crash game.

Streamed the whole game from start to finish on Fox Sport in full HD. No need for any of these other small time players. Best of all, it did not cost me a single cent to DSTV.

Update

DStv has provided insight into what caused its DStv Now service to experience downtime during the Springboks versus New Zealand rugby world cup match today.

“We would like to apologise to some of our DStv Now customers who were unable to access the platform for the Springbok RWC match against the All Blacks,” said the company.

“All customers that were logged in ahead of the start of the match were able to view the game seamlessly, however, there was a problem with the influx of fresh logins on the platform, which had to be individually verified, causing a delay in accessing the platform.”

Uhm... I was already logged in. They are talking of the downtime before the game, so they will probably 'blame' the fresh logins for the inconsistent stream as well. It is an IPTV service, use your subscription numbers for assessing the needs for the required level of service. Do they even stress test?

I guess like Takealot normally does, they will praise this as an influx of new Premium Subscriptions for PR and marketing reasons.

This will only result in more cancellations.
If you can't rely on DSTV to watch your sport, then why bother paying their expensive rates?
Most people will use the sat feed.
Most people are using their parents account or some friend/family and not paying subs anyway!

The moment my DSTV Now stream dropped I started streaming ITV, DSTV came back but I was already invested by that point. Are they trying to tell me something? Just don't use dstv? okay okay if you insist.

BS, this was caused by poor architecture and implementation. Don't blame your customers you fekkers

Especially since many people only got the lowdef stream when it did work, insufficient transit and likely overloaded
