And half of those complaints are from people that dont have/cancelled DSTV

Well to be fair they aren't breaking the rules, DSTV now allows for two concurrent connections so if the person who is paying allows someone who isn't paying to use the service the person who owns the account has effectively covered the cost anyway.

I'm sure there's a TOS somewhere barring that.

This is nothing new for IT infrastructure in SA. I remember the days when computicket used to crash every single time there was ticket sales for a massive event. Every single company that has Black Friday deals experiences crashes every single year. They just don't learn and want to go the cheapest possible route which ultimately leads to these issues. Then they apologise and do the exact same thing the following year/event.

Possibly. I never took the time to read them when I was a subscriber

Also I would imagine it is near impossible to police so effectively even if there are T&C's they mean nothing.

Not good enough. During Friday's game login was smooth enough, but quality was low and it buffered regularly.

In that case why allow two concurrent streams - it's unlikely the subscriber would be watching more than one at a time.

Did anyone expect DSTV not to fail the test? If you want a reliable stream use ITV.

What a load of K@K

You PLAN for a worst case scenario based on how many subscribers you have @ 2 x streams per subscriber @ max resolution and then anticipate the bandwidth requirement + contingency. So even if they ALL start streaming at the same time ( unlikely ) - you don't get caught off guard like that - it's just p_ss poor planning, or a lack of sufficient infrastructure, or both if you ask me..

If Netflix can get it right ( and they have millions of subscribers all watching at the same time ) - why can't you lot.

Amateurs !!! pfffffffffft

I would be very angry if I found someone who is using my credentials complaining about Dstv, I would cut them off. I am the main man and I do all the paying and all the complaining, freeloaders will only complain when they are allowed to do so by their masters.

however, there was a problem with the influx of fresh logins on the platform, which had to be individually verified, causing a delay in accessing the platform.

No matter how well your infrastructure scales, when you do stupid sht like that you are going to have a bad time

DSTV is being paid by you to deliver a service. So if they can't provide the service, what are you paying nearly a grand a month for? You should be just as angry as the freeloader that you provided your credentials to. Also that is an intense power trip you are on my "main man"

They might be doing this on purpose to get folks to sign up for the real deal again

I can bet if SA are in the finals it will be un-streamable.
