DStv Now issues during Springbok games – Explained

The South Africa vs Italy stream was fine. Lets hope the stream today works.

Just log in before the stream starts and you'll be fine.

Yes their scaling is **** and they should've done something about it long ago due to the influx of users they saw in the first match between SA and NZ, but we all know that they lean towards the incompetent side. I believe their infrastructure is probably not built to scale out easily and therefore they cannot scale on demand such as the likes of Netflix. If their services were built on top of the likes of Azure using microservices this wouldn't be an issue, they could scale out horizontally infinitely without issue.

Do they never get tired of apologising?
It is better than pretending all is well in la-la land.
it's unlikely the subscriber would be watching more than one at a time
Multiple users in a single household, possibly. Not sure what the limit is for Dstv Now in respect of a single email address. When my subscription prescribes on the 27th, I would be happy to test this, should somebody wish to provide me with their access details? :sneaky:

What a load of K@K

You PLAN for a worst case scenario based on how many subscribers you have @ 2 x streams per subscriber @ max resolution and then anticipate the bandwidth requirement + contingency.
I wonder how different it might've been for them if instead of having insufficient resources to deliver streams, they invested good money to ensure sufficient resources to stream. Then they could've stood on their ability to deliver the biggest game of the year without problems as a way of roping those other people in to becoming paid customers. Offer them the kind of packages that makes sense to them, even if it's a kind of pay-as-you-go sports service where they can use it for select games. It's an easy digital product to sell.

But no.

Instead of showing people why they should use your service, you instead failed to show the kind of technical competence expected of a streaming service I might pay for. You should've over-compensated the hell out of this game but you didn't. And you wonder why your business is slipping. This amazing opportunity and you just didn't use it @dstv.

I recall a Multichoice article where they said something on how to watch the Soccer World Cup. They said if you do not have DStv, ask a family member for their DStv Now login details.

So it seems, DStv is not too concerned regarding login sharing. At least not for now.

My Dad's watching it here at the office... on our Vox Fibre link. Streaming is perfect.

lol.

Monkeys. It's not like they are pioneering things, this has been done to death by other companies and its not rocket science anymore.

Stream was working but seems like it defaults to 240p no point having 100mb fibre if you can't even stream 1080p
