On my tv, when I go to app, search for dstv, it bring up the up, but when install comes there are no onder versi9n to choose from, How do I get there?
 
Same problem on my Xiaomi S Box. Done all the suggestions (log off, clear cache, reinstall etc) fixed for a while and then back to the black screen. Twitter is full of complaints of the same thing and yet the problem persists...
 
Multichoice advised me today that software version 2.4.5 has been released, which fixes all the bugs! The problem is that I can't find it in Google Playstore, or any where else on the internet! Does anybody know anything about this version!

Does this mean we need to plug it into our laptop or computers to get that version...
 
I think they are too scared to put it out there in case it is a bigger balls up than the current version!

Geez, reputable companies should not be encouraging their users to sideload their apps. Something is very wrong when you've reached this stage.

Yeah I was so surprised when I saw that :unsure:

Let's hope the new version starts rolling out soon officially on the Play Store.

Good afternoon

For Ematic 419 Android Boxes (might work on other brands as well)

I picked up on the internet that the current version 2.4.4 (also 2.4.3) is not stable. You have to uninstall the current version back to the factory version of the box. Reboot the android box and then re-install a older version like V2.4.2 which I tested thoroughly last night changing to all the channels 1 by 1.

In order to do this you will have to sideload the updates from

DStv update version history for Android - APK Download

Download DStv old versions Android APK or update to DStv latest version. Review DStv release date, changelog and more.

and download version 2.4.2 You then copy it to a flash drive and sideload straight onto the box. (Please keep in mind that you need a decent file explorer like X-Explore to be able to read the flash drive and then to run it. It might ask you to assign a permission to install unknown apps.

I managed to do this successfully after I managed to install Chrome onto the Ematic box which enabled me to sideload the DSTV update without any problems using X-plore.

If you uninstall and then don't sideload, does it automatically just default to the most recent (broken) version of the stupid app?
 
20220124_154710 copy.jpgSo apparently 2.4.5 dropped on the 20th of Jan. I just did the update now. I cleared data and re-linked.

So far so good. Everything seems to be working ... for now. Will post if anything changes.
