Hi Everyone:D

i would like to now if anyone can help me
I have the DSTV now app on my iPad and as soon as i want to airplay it to my Apple TV (4 Gen) the video freezes.
Has anyone have a work around for this ,
I have also looked into AirParrot 2 but before i want to buy it $6.99 has anyone tested it ?

i have chatted with DSTV and DSTV care on Twitter , but they cant answer the question , " why it freezes "

Thanks

the answer I think is no. whenever you go to airplay on that app it just dies. sport, live tv, saved content. would love to know how they do it. if you trigger that airplay menu that app goes limp. which is weird because that's a system function. even if you open airplay before you open dstv now that stuff wont load.

it somehow detects that menu opening and then kills the stream. i thought apple apps ran sandboxed.

DSTV Now app will not stream any content that is not directly licensed from DSTV.

Try streaming some local Kyknet program or something and then it works. Same for the supersport channels.

are you speculating or is this fact? ill test anyway.

Ill test it tonight , thanks , if it works , Give that man a Bells :D

So with much tinkering I think I have found a solution that voids the DSTV requirement . You can sideload the Kodi (XMBC) app onto your Apple TV. Just google how. Once done you can load the 123movies.to plugin and the sportsdevil plugin . 123movies allows you to watch pretty much any movie or series and the sportsdevil app allows you to watch any live sports stream

if it is not licensed a message will pop up and that channel is greyed out.
Other than that it should work.

My android tablet wants me to logon to dstv now app easily once a week :(

Isn't the Dstv now app available in the Apple TV app store?

Nah, my search to enlightenment started here. I though I'd come back and post my solution to save like minded kin some time. On the journey i also discovered you can sideload a web browser(basic) ,NES/SEGA emulators and some other cool apps

AirParrot also does a great job at streaming DSTV/Supersport from pc/mac to Apple TV

I am aware that the DSTV Now app does not work when streaming through AirPlay, but until this week I have not had any problems streaming directly from the SuperSport App.

Starting this week there is suddenly an error "Error: Cannot load content". When clicking play it links to the Apple TV, shows the blank buffering screen, then drops the connection. I've restarted both iPhone and iPad and the problem remains. The only way around appears to be using the mirror function...

Any help out there?

I also used to AirPlay from the SuperSport app but it doesn't work any longer. Started with recent Apple TV update.

Don't think the app is compatible any longer.

Noticed this weekend as well. No go.
