Hi All,

I'm sure this question has been asked many times before... :D

Which package would you recommend to your Retired, Elderly Parents?

TopTV Variety & TopStar - R99
DStv Lite - R99

Max of R100 to Spend. :(

Thanks in advance for the help.
Andrew

If they like sport, then get DSTV, if not, TopTV has a lot of shows that will remind them of their childhood :D

Why not TopTv? Bad Service?

Seems you get a lot more for you R99

It's not that. It's just that the programming are rubbish. I'm viewing this through my perspective though. For elderly folk it might not be an issue but for those that enjoy proper entertainment, I'd stick to DStv. :)

i had TopTv, programs from the late 80s and early 90s. :D

getting dstv compact

No people. He's comparing dstv lite to top variety.

First toptv variety is R99 and the topstar addon is R60 extra.
In this case toptv is much better than dstv lite. The stuff on toptv variety will seem brandnew against the crap you will see on dstv lite.

At exactly R99 per month Biggie is right.

Plus the startup costs for Top Tv are cheaper at R299 vs R499 or R599.

I have DSTV after 8 months of Top TV so im not being bias here.

Thanks for the responses guys.
TopTV it is. ;)

Any recommendations on the best installers for the job? My parents live in Durban.

Buy the decoder at House and home,Makro etc...

The installation is free with the decoder.(voucher in the box)

Included in the box is a number to call Top TV , who will then refer you to a qualified installer.

Top TV = Value Option
DSTV = Rip-off Option
Its that simple, just compare DSTV pricing to any other country ANYWHERE........DSTV have been taking South Africans to the cleaners
for years. Hopefully Super 5 Media will finally get their house in order and be able to offer the country another value option too.

DSTV so much more. :)

You are not even taking the end users circumstances into consideration. They are elderly, and have a restricted budget. Best bang for their buck is obviously TopTv.

TopTv is aimed at offering affordable content for those not wanting to be fleeced by MNET (do they still exist?) and DSTV.

Of course, the more you are prepared to pay per month, the better DSTV compares to TopTv content offering. Although, for +/- 290pm TopTv's premium package is pretty good value.
