Hi there

We are doing a pricing comparison between DStv’s premium service (R665 per month) and comparable international services.

It will be great if you can post links to international pay-TV services which are more or less the same as DStv’s offering.

Thanks!

This will be a tricky exercise, because you will need to take into account cost of living differences etc.

...and also subscriber quantities. Most similar international services are from first world countries, with loads more subscribers. This brings subs prices down and helps to subsidise installation and STB costs.

Agreed.

Thats not to say that this is an impossible thing to do, but there are multiple variables to take into account to get a true and fair reflection of the matter.

I honestly don't think DSTV will fair brilliantly when compared on an even footing to its international counterparts, but thats not to say that they will be massively over the top either.

Who are "we"?

Please also post information regarding splitting up of sport only options and where you can choose your own channels. MC has always maintained they dont offer it because its international practice which is a lie. You can get SKY sports bouquets on their own for example via streaming services.

This, yes I agree.

I'm paying R725 a month for my premium bouquet, but that's with the pvr, so I guess it's a bit cheaper without?

I am sure it will be "surprising" ;)

I wanted to complain about the pricing a few years back and looked at Sky with there different packages, and to get all the sport we do was quite difficult to get then on Sky (Obviously all the SA content - superrugby, currie cup and tri-nations then).

I don't think you can get all of the South African content and match DSTV on the price. Sky Sports doesn't even show some of their Autumn Internationals (When we tour Europe in our Spring), where DSTV shows all the matches between all the countries.
