I think we should organize a national DSTV free month just to let Multichoice know we don't appreciate their pricing.
Would you support a one month DSTV stay away to protest the increases in Multichoice pricing?
Disclaimer: As a protester you will have to incur the possible cancelation charge or reconnection fee. I am just putting forth this idea to make Multichoice aware that its subscribers are actually human and not an army of robots that can print money from their rectums whenever they demand it...
I am not liable for any damages financially or otherwise incurred by partaking in what could be a prolific victory for South African consumers. I am not leading this effort as I think it would be the wrong thing to do. I will merely disconnect my DSTV for April 2009. Care to join?
Just a quick suggestion or two based on what was mentioned below:
1. Make sure Multichoice knows why you are disconnecting the service for one month.
2. Don't be rude to them. Just friendly and politely state the fact that their increases in fees are not welcome anymore and have them disconnect you for April 2009.
3. Spread the word! Mention this to your friends. Ask them if they would consider canceling their subscription for one month in April 2009 and let Multichoice know why they are doing so. You can make suggestions here. This is not an aggressive campaign. It is completely open to anybody to join or reject. The intention is not to be rude or anything, it is about getting things done the right way.
WARNING!!!!
Before you commit to something like this you need to ask yourself whether Multichoice might not be in line with trends. I believe this increase is not in line with what should be happening in the current climate and will be protesting. If however you think they are in line with among other things like inflation and currency volatility for instance then you should not take part.
One can argue at close to R500 that DSTV premium isn't out of line with global pricing, but when one considers the level of high definition channels as well as movie channels available overseas for that price, DSTV is overpriced in my opinion...
Suggestions? Post them below...
