DStv continues to be the dominant pay-TV service in South Africa and offers a variety of packages - each of which has a different content catalogue and price.

DStv Premium is the most expensive and comprehensive package, offering a full range of 157 channels.

With the number of subscribers dropping Premium, it seems they've reached the intolerable price point and that's good for us minions who like our sport neatly wrapped up in one package. I expect the price to hover in the R800-R900 range for the foreseeable future.

The small number of channels difference from premium to compact just shows how few quality channels they must have. Else compact would be good value at half the price.

And no, it's not worth paying close to R1000 per month just for that.

They'll look to squeeze as much from what's left but that mere R10 increase for 2020 tells me they know the jig is up.
