So, the kiddies (and a few of the more inebriated adults) are freaking out because the DSTV is off and no cartoons are therefore watchable. I just wanna see if anyone else is being affected. Far as I can tell, it went off sometime after 9pm and it's still merrily clicking and 'searching for signal'.

Here in Pta there's nothing... but that might be due to the heavy weather :p

Happens to me the last two Saturdays in a row. Not even the call center could help. box says "contact installer" but the next day everything is fine. Wierd.

I had this the other morning. Only a few channels were working. Al Jazeera and one of the BBC ones. Then it all came back.
I guess they are operating on skeleton staff.

Well, it continued throughout the night, and when I woke up at 10, it was just completely off and there was a lovely digital square on the decoder  So, I unplugged it one last time and after a complete rescan, it came back on. I'd love to know wtf was going on with it ....... but anyway.

After the storm last night in Pretoria, I thought mine would be off, but fortunately it's OK.

weird, mine lost signal for only about a minute when the weather was at it's worst.

We usually lose signal when the weather gets bad, I stay in one of the higest areas in Pretoria, so the cloud cover is usually heavy when it rains.

a bit of drizzle here and it's gone again .... hopefully it's just because of a storm elsewhere and not a continuation of last night's joy

The only two watchable channels are 110 series & channel O until last week 137 BTV was ok, but now can't see anything. All the other channels are not watchable at all. I have DSTV Compact. Any solution?

buy an Mvix player! :D

and here I sit again with nothing but a "searching for signal" screen .... phoned the useless fsckers and was eventually told "Oh, well it's an installation or decoder problem, sorry" What they couldn't answer was how if I have broken equipment, the DSTV was on the whole of today after being off last night .......

M_H : your satellite dish might not be slightly out of line, enough for the slightest interference to cause issues.

I had a similar thing when I moved my dish.. took me about 3 hours of buggering around till i got it right again.

TB - what did the 'buggering around' entail bru? I'll give anything a shot right now :( And if no luck after that ..... shell out money time unfortunately :o

The buggering around entailed a can of Q20, a ladder and a size 11 spanner iirc...

Spent about 3 hours on the roof realigning the dish and checking the signal strength on the decoder.

oh joy, that sounds like fun :o I just went out there and it looks like the LNB casing is not sealed anymore ..... got me thinking if because it was raining last night and then again now and there was/is no signal, that that's the problem.

That it very def could be...

YOu could try wrapping it up in duct tape and see if it makes a difference.
