DSTV Rant Thread...

Well I hope they're prepared to lose a fair number of subscribers, and I will be one of them, along with pretty much everyone I know actually.

Probably lose me as well. Seriously considering dropping down to Compact anyway

Don't like dstv, never thought it was worth it and the only reason people I know have had it was for sport. Now I notice a lot of people are even complaining about the sport.

Rather up my adsl to 384k uncapped for the money.

Sorry multichoice, until you improve your content, I wont subscribe.

I use the internet now. DSTV is major waste of money.

Get shows a year before DSTV, and I can watch it back to back :D

I'd need to record a solid 6 months of ceebee/Dinsey/Cartoon Network/etc for the kids before I consider cancelling my DSTV. HDD prices are getting lower every day so it's not unfeasible.

I canceled my DSTV a the end of last month. As previously stated I've gotten gat vol of seeing repeats of repeated repeats! I found that F1 was the only thing that I really would miss and the ridiculous cost of DSTV with its ever increasing lockups, schedule failures is simply not justified.

the only thing Go is good for is when they show Entourage ...... that's it.

Oh, and PlayR and The Verge are ok to watch/catch up on now and then.

Recently I have started becoming ticked of at the fact that the timing across channels is not in sync. I auto tune to CSI but once the decoder changes over the entire intro is finished . Seems like there is also some technical issues with natgeo and history as glitches lasting 2-3 seconds are common.

If the b@sturds would only sell just MNet I would get that but until then I'm not enjoying my last month of DSTV:mad:

Actually what gets to me is that hdpvr users always seems to highlight that one feature you most probably won't use...record 2 channels at once.:)

ROLMAO...what's the point of being able to record two channels when stuff will be repeated down the line.

I always thought DStv was a rip-off...there's a gazillion ways in which I could spend R500 each month...lining the pockets of Naspers shareholders is not one of them.

In Manila, I get access to most of the US shows barely weeks after they'd been broadcast on the US- instead of the +6 month delay in SA. The basic cable costs the equivalent R250/month including premium channels...my only beef is the the censorship and the fact that the service is anologue instead of digital- so no EPG. But at least I can watch the cricket on SuperSport 2.

recording 2 channels at the same time is brilliant, especially when you rec as many stuff each day as I do.
I only have a SDPVR thou and would have loved to be able to do that. I know this can be achieved with software on the sdpvr as the tuners are capable of this.

The function is to compensate for crime::eek:

At least you can watch your recordings before they took all your goodies and wait 3 months for the insurance to compensate, by then you might have loose on the repeats.:p

If we all stand together and send our complaints via e-mails, Mutichoice won't know what hit them! 59 e-mails!

And I ****ing hate their language filter that doesn't ****ing work properly. Right now, it's on "original soundtrack" and it's not working for ****. I cannot stand the constant "breaks" in the sound.
