DSTV Software Upgrade

Our DSD720i shut down yesterday. It resets - shows info bar - no picture or sound. Related?? We swapped it : R350 !!

Well was at my girl friends house last night.

First thing that happens: Watching tv, it loses signal and starts scanning and scanning. Goes into an endless loop of scan and reset over and over again. 4 Power offs at the wall later it stops doing it.

Then 20 minutes later, it decides to start a software upgrade. I mean come on multichoice seriously WTF?

I was sleeping at that time, so I can't be bothered with particulars in this thread :p

I am a little peeved. Was watching Taggart, the Scottish detective series and they were about to uncover the murderer when the screen froze. Did a reboot to no avail. Thought it was a problem with my decoder. Switched off the decoder and this morning everything was ok, but I missed the end as well as my fav rugby program "wrap from Downunder".

I am also getting these "screen freezes" every now and again on my DSD990 - spoke to Multichoice and said its not a problem on their side - The easy response I think because if other people are getting it around the country its not only my decoder... idiots.

They should move it back to 3am! Some of us is still awake that time! (23h30) :)

you should go to bed so you can grow big, and cleverer!

seriously, why do they have software upgrades if they upgrade their hardware every 3 months?

DSTV just pushed through a forced upgrade.

So my DSTV went blank and then began re-installing the new software. It is a little different, contains an empty on-demand section and one or two little enhancements.

The one thing I was expecting with this was the ability to record multiple episodes with ease. I don't see the functionality there yet - I thought this was being tested and would be included in this update or am I missing it?

If I go to the scheduled events, there is an option to select series, but this does nothing apart from take me to the scheduled recordings page which says it cannot find a schedule.

So what else is new?

Oh, it also now tells you that you are watching either TV1 or TV2. Thanks, because I was unsure

And glad to see they are spending money on developing software for a functionality that will no longer be available...

102 is finally out of sight! :D :D :D
