DStv streaming a mess after app update

I get it, it's fun to say "Because Africa..."
But this isn't an African issue... its an organisational issue that isn't unique to this continent.

Also.. this isn't an individual's fault. I think it's interesting that people think big software development projects that go wrong like this; comes down to "some idiot" - some people clearly have zero idea how big software development projects like this work.

Some idiot some where, must act as/be quality control for the product, or does that not exist at DSTV ?

Let us know if this works.. my elderly mom is using a MiBox as well and she's been bitching about it not working. I'm in the UK so gonna have to guide her over the phone. Ain't gonna be fun :D
My same problem with my mom who wants to know why i cant call dstv and sort it out. im like, yes i called again today - working on it... she is not staying with me so i have to get someone in the house to uninstall the app and re-install then it works for a while then back to same issues.

Ok. May I assume that the problem at DSTV tech division is AA or BEE related ?

And, DSTV, just says pay, and pay and pay some more ...

Had the exact same conversation with my mother.

yep - and i tried saying watch netflix in the meanwhile...but nope - probably no telenova or some thing...haha. but i will now attempt to go and sideload the previous working version and stop updates.

Again, it doesn't come down to a single person. In a typical setup for a project like this - you have

X number of Developers - per platform (iOS, Android, Web, etc)
X Number of test esters (Sometime also per platform)
X number of BA's
X Number of QA's
X Number of Product Owners
Scrum master
Business people
etc etc..

Now, collectively they are all responsible for the product they put out. A developer will develop something accordingly to the spec they are given and no more. (Sometimes less) and its up to the testers, QA, BA, product owner, etc all to verify. - The product is tested at multiple levels. Right up to internal staff and even business people will test it before go-live.

Sometimes, the issue can be poor direction from Product Owner, who gets business requirements from the higher up that may be vague. Maybe timelines were too tight and shortcuts were taken (Seen that happen at a large tracking company) and the end result is ****.

It's multiple people, in multiple roles to get something like this out the door.

I get where you're coming from; but in my experience (Of 8 yrs as a developer for big companies) AA or BEE isn't the issue either - but you're free to make your own assumptions.

Rough being old Folks, having to get used to the lowering standards, all over yhe place, deteriorating attitude and moral ethics - ever increasing greed and abuse of service delivery they where accustomed to in all spheres of life, in their youth. A very rough new world for them.

End of the day, we don't care who or why they ****ed up - people are being charged money for their derelict. A total lack of respect for their clients.

So apparently 2.4.5 dropped on the 20th of Jan. I just did the update now. I cleared data and re-linked.

So far so good. Everything seems to be working ... for now. Will post if anything changes.
