DStv streaming now supports up to two concurrent streams

Everyone here talking about how pathetic it is that you have to be on the same IP address, that nobody is talking about the most Multi"choice" feature of them all...

Just an extra R100+pm added to your subscription automatically without first asking you if you want to pay more to stream on your phone or laptop while using the same Wi-Fi. And then calling it a "feature"

Edit: makes you wonder how much mybb is getting paid to promote this, because any half decent journalist should be writing about this. Instead, it's being marketed by mybb as some great new add-on by multichoice
Wait, what? You have to pay extra for this? Even if you're already on the highest (Premium) tier?

Edit: I read the article properly - what a load of manure - this only applies to their 'streaming' packages - screwing their satellite subscribers as usual

Is this when using the streaming-only package or regular satellite product?

Satellite package but streaming still works. I think for streaming only package the limit is enforced but I don't know to be honest because it's not clear what needs to happen.

The decoder is a dstv xplora2 connected to the internet in another province but on the same ISP. Maybe that is why but for now the streaming still works if you just close that.

Thanks for all the details! Will help with the follow-up

So basically, nothing has changed

The additional fee is only for 2 Mobile streams. And does not work with 1 TV streaming and 1 Mobile stream.
Waste of R100 in 99% of cases. Has me thinking this is false advertising....

Wait a minute, are you saying you cannot stream on another device when the feed on the decoder is running in another home? Not when there is another stream at that home? If this is the case, then DStv has actually tightened the measures further for satellite packages.

Tested yesterday on a decoder linked setup, while taking the dog for a walk :) Was still able to stream (Vodacom) on the mobile

Might have something to do with the fact that the device was recently connected to your home Internet connection.

We have the Sattelite premium package. DSTV Explora2 is in KZN with a family member and I use the streaming portion in Gauteng.

Streaming works. The error comes up when you click the DSTV Home network option so I don't know if they will be limiting streaming to the same household for satellite packages too because that will be more restrictive as you said but for now streaming is still working.

Actually quite impressed by that implementation, although not as seamless as Netflix's. Thanks a lot!

Question that remains is whether DStv will now allow Home Network streams and at least one external stream at the same time.
