DStv streaming outside SA prohibited

What kind of moronic fool contacts Multichoice to ask them about their feelings on the matter? Obviously they won't like people accessing their services from abroad. The only thing you could achieve is having them subscribe to Unotelly, monitor all Unotelly IP addresses, and then block them.

Thats five minutes I will never get back.

Oh wow... so that is another reason for DSTV to hate UnoTelly !

LOL

Still don't get WHY they would be upset if PAYING subscribers accessed their content from overseas.

Cant one share their smart card number with like 10 people?

Maybe that is why.

I'm curious to know how precise IP-based blocking is and what it's legal standing is in the first place.

Surely ascertaining where someone is geographically based on their IP address is just an approximation - not to mention one which goes against the spirit of the internet.

I'm not condoning piracy in any way - but I would suggest to content providers to get with the programme rather quickly in terms of either working out global deals or staying off the internet

Supersport streaming is a massive pile of poo anyway and it's not possible to get a minutes viewing without buffering. There are better free alternatives on the net.

It's not their call, DSTV is just the messenger. Hate the content owner for these restrictions, not the content carrier. It's like hating Game because the DVDs they sell are region locked.

Please let me know. I want to know How to watch some proper South african Rugby from Sweden

I don't think you can share it with more than 1 person.

Not sure if it's still possible, but Dreamboxes used to be able to do cardsharing with a couple of decoders. I know that the last IRDETO2 SIM swap patched that hole, not sure if it's been re-opened by the haxx0rs.

It's improved a lot in the last few months. I generally don't have problems streaming on Afrihost anymore, and it used to be really bad. The quality does tend to switch from high to low sporadically though. Sometimes I still use free streams, if I'm watching an entire event online. Usually I just want to watch a few minutes, and Supersport's website is quick and easy.

Well I remember in the beginning you could only stream from Mweb or one of the ISP's that peer with them. I think its easy to pick out SA isp's because there are so few.

It's fairly accurate at a country level, but very easy to bypass - I think the service provider just has to make a reasonable attempt to restrict where the content is viewed from to honour their agreement with the content provider.
