DStv streaming vs international services

I went the illegal route but ultimately decided to come back to DStv for the Supersport. Too much buffering and no PVR made things untenable. Just close your eyes and think about it as R30 a day, not bad.
Why not sign up for the premium streaming option or do you need more than a 25/10 line

Dstv streaming quality is SHEEEET. Period. Don't even need to compare further.

I considered going streaming only package, but my issue is the quality of the streams. The DStv WebOS (LG) smart tv app doesn't stream NEAR the 1080 it should be streaming at, same with the website streaming ... works well on the likes of Mi TV stick, but the WebOS and website ones are shite.

Oh yes, that one. Yesterday (or was it Saturday) I tried it but the links were dead but I see it's working this morning (maybe it was a problem with kodi?).

Yes, this one is great for what it is (free), some buffer buffer unwatchable (BBC News), some low res wrong aspect (Sky News) , no dstv/superpsort/rugby, no EPG.

The thing that 'tips the scales in DStv's favour' is something we already have, so no, you can't factor in that cost.

I'll let others tear apart the rest of this lipstick on a pig article.
It's a requirement for reading the article...

Same channels? DSTV/Supersport?

UK, US, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, all the African channels you want to watch, and many more you don't want to watch. East Europe, Asia, Middle East, you name it, it is there, and if you are the type, all the XXX you will ever need. Decently recent Series and Movies - these I source separately - and use it for live TV only.

Yes why is this? Feels like they forcing the android app on us.

Everything except the dstv now app is 720p. Dstv now app is 1080p.

They seem to be limiting their sources to licensed providers who pay the content creators for their efforts.

I see @Hanno Labuschagne liked this reply.

@Hanno Labuschagne ask dstv what they think about using vpn or dns services to bypass restrictions to access content elsewhere that they have the rights for in SA.

I bet they will say it's essentially the same as piracy. ;)

Strange, I'm not having the same.

I actually watched all the rugby this weekend ;)
