DSTV - Too many adverts

Yup discovery is by a long margin the worst channel for ads. You watch 10 minutes then you can easily watch the news or music for 5 minutes when they break for an ad. I would actually prefer them to put on normal money making adverts than replaying the same shyte over and over and over
 
I can understand the idea of ads, it pays the bills. What annoys the living crap out of me is that the ads are dstv and sport promo's half the time.
 
For the main shows I would assume there would be the same amount of Ad's - Prison Break on MNET will have the same amount of ads as SABC 3, but the ads are more annoying on SABC 3, the ludicrous cellphone ads with their ludicrous prices.

2009 called they'd like their TV series back ;-). Yes in general ad breaks are exactly the same length between TV channels, I despise watching live TV now though as the PVR has spoilt me and if I have to see one more naked dude dancing around on Discovery World I'll shoot myself.

Yep,you'll watch a talk show,they'll bombed you with ad breaks of up to 5 mins long.At the end they'll go on another ad break only to come back to say..."Goodbye,see you next time".

Already happen.My sis in France has a vod and she always about the ads.She said most of the times they can't ff the ads,they always play before you can watch a movie.
 
I agree... the ads suck!!!

We pay alot for DSTV there should be no ads, or, we should get a discount because of the ads :)
 
I wish we could select to pick and choose what gets loaded onto our dstv on demand menus, that way we could watch what we wanted without ads later on.

I know you can record on PVR obviously but then you still have to fast forward through all the ads.
 
And on Vuzu, the show freezes and then the add starts, no smooth transition - annoying.

This annoys the absolute Fck out of me!!!! I have my tv at a level I can hear it at do they think I'm Fcking deaf or something that they have to increase the volume.

the other amazing thing that gets me is that these numbnuts have not worked out that it does not help levelling up the volume. I switch the adverts into mute so don't get to hear it anyway but this is when I watch ads anyway. Thanks to VOD, I currently wait a day or two for the program to come through on VOD and watch it through there. absolutely awesome .. sad will be the day when they do put ads on the VOD system

The worst thing about it is that they advertise discovery channel on discovery channel... It's probably because they made space on their programming, but no-one wants to advertise there, so they play their own ad on repeat.
 
This is the same everywhere really. It is the show's creators that are at fault. They make the shows about 40-50min long so the likes of DSTV have to insert adverts otherwise they wouldn't make up the 1 hour program, and you would have shows tarting and ending at all kinds of weird times.

Most of the series' I watch on Channel 115 have very short breaks and many are DSTV promos just to fill up time. They play for 50min in total and not 1 hour.
 
Big brain time...

Lets put DSTV ads about DSTV premium when they already have DSTV premium.
