Don't you drink beer when watching rugby at home? The only real cost is the added premium of buying beer at the pub.At R30 a draught, and 5 draughts a game, you can watch 5 games for the cost of the reduced subscription (R750). Add to that the beers + snacks you would have had anyway watching it at home, and you can probably bump that up to 8-10 games.
It has been a while since I've watched Rugby, so I'm not sure what SA's chances are, but if you assume they make it to the finals and you watch all the SA games, that is 8 matches, which fits the beer schedule. So you can watch the RWC SA matches without ever giving a cent to Multichoice, and you the pub vibe to go along with it instead of loud adverts.
Most places will also likely have drinks specials to lower that cost even further.
* This is, of course, viable only for a single person. If there are 2 of you it sadly becomes cheaper to pay the crooks at monochoice.
They should be showing the SA games on a FTA (Free to air) channel and earn more on advertising. All the other games can be on premium for those who are fanatics. Premium should be R500-R600.Multichoice thinks we are so stupid, probably the Israel shareholders came up with the plan, Do private companies care about the country they conduct business in? How can a Middle class family afford R750 a month for rugby, a sport alot of South Africans love! In this situation our vote counts, vote by cancelling dstv, R500 a month fixed, just maybe consider it!
DStv's "come back" promotion
MultiChoice has launched a DStv Premium Rugby World Cup deal which offers a big discount to lure former subscribers back to the service.
Instead of paying the usual R904 per month for a DStv Premium subscription and Access Fee, the monthly price has been cut to only R750.
