I fully agree with @Arthur on this story. Google was caught on double standards couple times.

Not that I would buy Lumnia, it is very old now.
 
Guys which models does Telkom and Cell C offer which are true dual sim?
I see the 2017 A7 and A9 fit the bill, but the A9 is pricy and A7 has microusb. Both are on Oreo as well. But is the A6+ offered by Telkom proper dual sim?

Yeah waiting is what I decided as well. Got a new battery fitted to my 2.5 year old phone, should last me for many more months. Hoping this year USB C and Pie become standard offering so that phones like the 8X and A7 2018 fix the only issues I have with them.
 
anyone know if any of the carriers offer the Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 dual sim version?
 
I got my Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 from Vodacom. Mine is the single sim model but the sim tray is the same lenght as the dual sim model. The sim 2 slot blanked off. Does anyone know if I can maybe buy another tray to make this phone a dual SIM phone?

Changing the tray won't make a difference as you need Octopus or similar to write a second imei number.

Cheapest fix is an external dual sim adaptor which replaces the stock sim tray
