Dubai computer shopping

Hi guys.

Anybody been to Dubai?? I am going there in a weeks time and I would like to know what are the best places to shop for computer components. I want to pick up an ipod,g5 mouse and maybe a g15 keyboard.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I have tried googling but not really getting any results also the travel guides in store don't really cover computer shopping . One paragraph is hardly enough for a tech nerd like myself:)
 
Not sure... just be careful sneaking them back into the country :p

I got my stuff in from Singapore.

I have enough family members with me. :) Plus my old man is an expert at how to sneak items back in.:D
 
I was disappointed at most prices in singapore... nothing to rave about, hopefully dubai is better.
 
I got my 8800GT and iphone from Dubai :)
Try The Computer Plaza, Jumbo Electronics, Al Ain and Al Khaleej Centre.

Dubai International Duty Free in the Airport is Jam Packed with Electronics. Got my cellphone and ipod there. Much cheaper than here imo.
 
i got my current system from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia....

saved about 4000,- on what i would have paid here, if not more..

(CPU, Motherboard, Gfx, HD, Ram)
 
Prices in Dubai are generally no better than here. In Computer street you'll find a horde of little shops, probably all owned by a family anyway. That said, being "Summer Sale" season and cooler weather, there may be places running some good offers, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

IMO, it's cheaper to either bring PC parts in from the Far East, or the US.

I haven't been to Dubai but I have been to Abu Dhabi (where I bought my keyboard at half the price I would've paid for it in South Africa :D)

I have an uncle in Abu Dhabi. If I don't come right in Dubai I should probably give him a call then.:)
 
I didn't find Dubai particularly cheap ! Only bought Epson printer cartridges, they were cheaper.

Did you go to Sim Lim Square in SG?

Prices are usually like this:

Prices: Dubai > Singapore > Abu Dhabi > Malaysia

MY and SG are great for home appliances though. I picked up a Toshiba rice steamer and a Panasonic 3l Hot water pot (urn) - the type which is popular in Japan and US. :)
