Having started to use Vodacoms 3g Data Service and purchasing numerous bundles on the prepaid system the following issue arose:
as I could not buy the exact incremental value in prepaid voucher form,
EG: for a 1 gig bundle one must purchase aprox R305.00 and yet R275 + R12 = R287, now ***@ the advertised PER MB RATE
of R0.28 this for 1024mb aka 1 gig this gives me a figure of R286.72 almost a perfect fit for a R275 + R12 Prepaid Airtime,

here is where it gets interesting:
VODACOM does not have the Data Value's available in an exact numerical value pertaining to any bundle...instead one (using the 1 gig example) must Purchase,
R305, of which R6 is applied to the call airtime portion of the prepaid data card,.....as for the missing R2.28 well.........I have shown above that the
rounding off factor is an unworthy response because the nearest increment value in prepaiod vouchers is within 12 cents of THE TRUE VALUE OF THE DATA PACKAGE.
Based on 1024 mb = 1g as per Vodacom customer Care
vodacom data bundles:
1 g ***@.28/mb = valueR286.72 Retail: R289........APPROX 10 megs
2 g ***@.19/mb = value:R389.12 Retail: R389
3 g ***@.19c/mb = value:R583.68 Retail: R589
5 g ***@.19c/mb = value:R972.80 Retail: R989
 
Bundles are sold for a fixed amount for a specific size, not per MB.

The c/MB comparison is just there to easily compare different bundles within and between suppliers. No one is going to quote a number as 19.12234567c (or whatever), so people will round off in the comparison tables.

So you should do your calculation the other way around, if I read your post correctly.

click teh link and check out "no one" AKA AT&T Wireless they round off to the 1st decimal place, fact is VODAC is screwin teh peeps for 8mb on a 1G package......I rounded it off to 10 because well aesthetically it looks better ;D

I'm sorry to say but your understanding, of the Vodacom products, is flawed.

Can you go and buy any arbitrary amount of data? Say 123MB? You can't.

As I said above, the /MB pricing is for comparative purposes. You don't go to a Vodashop and buy data @ 19c/MB. You buy a bundle and get a fixed amount of data for a fixed price.
 
u said "no one" quotes decimal places on cents....i provided a link to AT&T WIRELESS, a similar company to vodacom,that in fact does display there / minute cost to the 3rd decimal place, there are I assure u no flaws in my understanding of Vcoms Rates and charges, the bundled rate for 1g displays 0.28 per mb tis is not the case and should be rectified and displayed as .282 which would bring the TRUE VALUE to R288.76 rounded off to the nearest rand value will give R289 which is an acceptable differential of R0.24 a value under the advertised ),28/mb however since it is not displayed in this manner this constitutes as a falsified rate and therefore Vodacom Must credit the extra MB to my account and ALL acc's that have been purchased with the unamended/ mb rate of .28c.................
 
Now to answer ur query can u go and buy an arbitrary amount of data on 123 mb...NO but I can and do however buy a rate of 0.28 c per mb, in order to do this I purchase a 1 g data bundle As a customer i can choose any aspect of ur data bundle to fit my needs in my case the displayed and advertised .28c rate is feasible to me 0.282 is out of my price range and comfort zone for a per mb rate and I was deceived by your company..... Please don't imply I don't know what i am talking about when it is obvious that you can only recycle ur original response,

Sorry if I'm recycling my first point, but you're using a metric that you cannot practically use as a measurement, i.e. you CANNOT buy data /MB.

You can only buy data in a bundle and that then can be reduced to a /MB price, if you want. But it's not the primary unit of purchase.

Every single table I've seen for Vodacom (or MTN) first gives the bundle price and then give a /MB price to allow you to compare bundles.

Nowhere does it state you're buying data /MB. If it does, please point it out so I can escalate it and resolve any 'deceiving' going on.

Basically your argument boils down to the operators should be posting the tables to 5 decimal places.

For example; on the 1GB package the rate is actually R0.3408203125/MB and not the R0.34/MB as published. :rolleyes:

I guess this dude walks into pick and pay and looks at the per unit price of a product then shouts at the manager if the total price is off by 1c :sick:

You cannot take a 6 pack of coke and rip out one can and expect to pay the unit price :D

3 decimal places not 5 as per At&t

on the 1 GB package the advertised rate is actually R0.28/mb not R0.34...I made no mention of the contract price as I have a modem and don't need to pay for it per mb/

It STATES in ur rate plan a data rate of R0.28/ mb whether it states it before or after the Package price is irrelevant,

And as for the pick n pay example....if i buy a six pack I expect to get a reduced rate compared to the single unit price if the pricing is displayed as so,

As far as a bulk purchase goes my Data is bought within a Data bundle to obtain the R0.28 rate the Single unit price is irrelevant as I am buying a bulk bundle, I am not asking to purchase 8 mb @ 0.28 mb I am simply insisting that I get EXACTLY what I pay for........Vodacom makes wayyyy to much money on the minuscule differential to ignore it,

Exactly why we have bundles, and in-bundle prices, so you don't pay R2 per Mb

I think you are missing the concept of In-Bundle Rate and Out Of Bundle Rate.

Lets take your Coke example for an example. When you a buy a six pack of Coke you are paying less than the price per unit(In-Bundle).

When you buy it seperately you are paying more(Out Of Bundle).

So in actual fact you are actually paying less for Data in a bundle, than what you would pay for it out of a bundle.

So like V3G said, the price plans for the Data Bundles are Fixed for a certain amount of Data to help you SAVE on OOB charges.

No, the issue here is one of maths and rounding of published numbers.

Dav's point is that if you take:

100 / 3 = 33.333333333333333333333

Now you round it off to 33 and multiply it by 3 you get 99.

"Someone" stole 1 unit :rolleyes:

But the point is completely irrelevant since you bought 100 units in the first place, not 3 units @ 33 / unit.

RE READ TEH THREAD........i understand the diff btw in bundle and Out bundle rates,.......the IN bundle rates is falsely displayed and the total bundle rate does not correlate to the PER Mb rate displayed..........damn u would think yalls was low level call center employees lol

and to clarify my argument is thatvodacom/mtn should honor it's 0.28 c rate and refund every package ever sold the 8 mb as well as continue to either add the 8 mb to the packages and or increase the price to .0282.

I don't care about anyone helping me save lmfao, the fact that 3g data is still capped is pathetic....so they not helping me "save" anything ...u make like they doin customers a favor hahahaha
 
I think you are complaining simply for the sake of complaining about something now....

3g is NOT capped and never has been. Oh, and if the per meg rate for 3g in bundle was 0.28 c, then I'd be a VERY happy camper.. I'd be paying what R40 +- for 3g.... that would be awesome.
