I have two monitors and i was wondering if its possible to set up duel displays with my Geforce graphics card and my on board?
Will it work or as soon as it detects PCI graphics, the on board gets disabled?

Thanks

As far as I know its like you said, most onboard vga cards get disabled when you use a normal Graphics card so I don't think that will work but you never know these days :)

You have two monitors fighting? :D

I thought you were against the grammar nazi's? :p

Back on topic - If your display card has two sockets then you are good to go - my lowly 8500GT supports 2 x 22" LCD's beautifully...

Otherwise, I also think that when you enable onboard gfx, the mobo will not pick up the gfx card any longer....

Onboard graphics will only get disabled if you use a AGP card, if you are using a PCI card then you can setup dual display on your pc.

Q 1) Can it be three screens? 1 on the motherboard and 2 on the video card (1 on the VGa and the other on the DVI)

I have a xfx geforce 8500gt, but only has one vga output a hd output and a dvi output, so i guess i cant do dueling monitors, both monitors only have vga input..
that why wanted to see if could duel with onboard as well
Thanks :)

I'm sure you're installed graphics card has 2 ports, if not, then how old is that thing
All i know is that it was simple and easy to do with my ati x1600pro, so if you got 2 display ports on your graphics card, then it is possible, if not, then you screwed

DON'T BE STUPID! seriously man, all you gotta do is get hold of a dvi to vga connector, it SHOULD have come with the card, if not, you can buy them off some one :/

just get the dvi to vga, plug that in, connect both monitors, and then you ready setup the duel monitors :D, hell... my old Geforce 5200 was able to do that

On that note of dual monitors: How do I get my screensaver to display on both monitors? Running Vista SP1 on a Dell D830 notebook

Yes, he is correct (even though he is insulting)

You just need to get hold of a DVD to VGA converter.

You can get them from most computers shops, Hi-Fi Corporation, Matrix Warehouse, etc.

They cost anywhere from R35 to R100

that will allow you to plug both VGA cables into the same graphics card.

That is how many of us do it at this stage.

screensaver or wallpaper?

For wallpaper, look at the link I put in my post further up.

Screensavers should work on both monitors automatically.

See thats the problem, I didn't get the connector with the card else i WOULD of worked that out for myself.. Hence why i asked about my card as I am not that good at just pulling answers out of thin air

This is not entirely true, i have set up triple view solutions with the onboard S3 solution and 2 SiS 6326 pci cards.

Ja, but for a first time user to try and find the correct drivers and the optimum configuration for multiple compatible graphics cards is a bit of a mission. Go easy on the guy.
