Dunkirk has a 97 Metacritic score

I didn't find Memento that difficult to understand, not compared to something like Primer. Inception was also more or less straightforward, if you get the whole Russian doll dream time dilation concept straight. I liked Memento quite a lot, definitely my favourite Nolan film so far. I really didn't think Christian Bale was a very good Batman or Bruce Wayne, so that kind of killed those films for me. And Inception was very intelligent and well directed, but something about the basic concept of it just seems artificial.

I might have issues with the running time, because a story like this needs to be lengthy to be really pack a punch.

Incidentally The Dark Knight was my first Nolan film. From there onward I just immersed myself in his works.

Tbh I understood the movie quite fine. I've always enjoyed those mind twister type movies because I enjoy the mental stimulation. I won't lie though, Inception kind of confused me at certain aspects so I gave it a rewatch.

Same but I've noticed that critics and the community are equally bad at times. It's just that this movie seems to be highly received by critics and audiences alike. That being said, the safest bet is probably to just go in with zero hype but I am a Nolan fan so I can do no such thing.

I read that IMAX is the way to experience this film. Have you watched it in IMAX or the normal format? Reason I ask is because IMAX is too pricey for me but at the same time I'm wondering if the normal format will detract from the intended experience.

Yes, saw it at IMAX. Definitely recommend it if at all possible.
