I cancelled my mweb account because I think I'm paying to much for a 4mb line if I'm downloading +-60gb a month
(R899pm)... So im thinking of going to Afrihost. So I want to know how good is Afrishost in Durban is.

Do you mean latency wise? surely Afrihost is just as good in every other aspect in Durban as it is anywhere else in SA?

I only really use my afrihost account for gaming and get pings of around 40 - 50ms. So never had any problems with afrihost, no idea about their uncapped though.

Well im going onto afrihost 2meg at the end of this month, so il be finding out then i guess :P

Latency is a IS (Seacom) or Telkom (the last mile) problem. AH are just resellers of bandwith from the IS network.
No problems here in Table View (CPT) since quite a while.

One thing to bear in mind is that we'll be moving from IS to MTN very soon. IS currently only has IPC capacity in JHB and CPT, whereas MTN have an IPC in Durban (to the best of my knowledge).

I think we can expect Durban performance to improve radically, since you would no longer need to be rerouted via JHB or CPT.

How soon is soon? Before end Sept perhaps?

I'm testing a MWeb 2mb uncapped at the moment and it performs much much better that my AH 2mb uncapped.

I will wait a bit before making a decision.

Afrihost and Axxess are the same folk, does that mean the Axxess bw will be moving to MTN as well? :D I really dislike IS at the moment, so this would be good :D

I don't game anymore but my 4 meg line as been rock solid.

We haven't finalised how and what will be moved across, but if the network performs as expected, my guess is ALL clients will want to be on it!!

Hope this is soon :) moving from mweb to afrihost at the end of this month on a trial basis..if things dont go to plan would probably try again once on MTN network :)
