I didn't say it was standard practice ;) CO2 or Argon is still the default afaik (been out of the industry for a few years now) since it is way cheaper (as long as nobody gets trapped in there).
 
Geez !!! This is really bad ..... I really do hope the Fire Department sorts that out like yesterday, from that aerial view posted it does not look good at all?? OMW

Is a video of the one side of the building on fire pretty much...

And given that the dark cloud I can see from my offices is getting thicker again, I doubt they've even begun to get the fire under control.

Almost think the best thing they can do is to let the building go and make sure it doesn't spread to the surrrounds.

There are 2 large petrol stations next to that building, its the last thing they can do, and maybe a km down the road are the crude oil storage tanks...

The fire department have to do everything in their power to get the fire under control and out as quickly as possible or we could end up experiencing something like this :

It is a 1960's built general good store, owned once by Grindrod Shipping, to store loose goods (non-containerised) for the coastal shipping trade. The store is enormous and some of it was leased to the States Warehouse, so who knows what can be stored there. Many years ago I visited there and it was full of tyres

In some sections that are on fire there are apparently wax panels... which is making the firefighters job almost impossible atm.

Judging from the pics posted , this could turn out to be a catastrophe if they don't get this fire under control FAST, the wind , I believe is just helping spread the fire throughout the factory and as you can see , it is a huge factory that literally goes on and on? What about petrol tankers close by as reported, is this fact? This is going to be a disaster!

Yeah, plenty of petrol stations nearby, and oil/petrol storage containers.

Go look at Google Maps...

Right next door to this building are 2 petrol stations, both of which service the trucking industry and they're near enough to the refinery to possible even have direct piped in fuel....
