Rhino what is your download speed like from Mal Park ?

I'm still battling with slow speeds on my p2p stuff.

Checking for Middleboxes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Done
running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 135.71Kb/s
running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 28.98kb/s
Your PC is connected to a Cable/DSL modem
Information: Other network traffic is congesting the link

Mal Park 21% signal 256k

Wizix I know TheRoDent puts allot of faith into that test but frankly I run between 4-6 tests and that one is the only one that ever performs poorly on download(server to client) also considering the modem idles allot while that test runs.. I just have to question it's accuracy run 4 or 5 tests (including the 5 other tests on myadsl) and see what speeds you get.. P2P is usually limited on the other side by the people you are downloading from.

That’s my experience too. If fact TheRodent's own hosted speed test is far more consistent!

this morning at around 6:30m... i strangely got dissed last night or early this morning (very rare event) and on reconnecting found i had next to no download speed.

will run the tests as mentioned above.

as an aside i received a call from sentech support (yay) a few minutes ago stating that the speed issues will be resolved tomorrow (double yay) in response to my ticket of 7th May.

I have noticed that speeds have decreased but it is middle of the day and all the businesses are up and running so I'll leave this little mishap till tonight and give my feedback on speeds.

I tend to agree. I will do more test at 5 and then a bit later to see the difference. Oh, I havent had any call about my speed.

Bay Of Plenty is fine. Just done some tests: Getting very decent download speed from Tucows (IS)

Well Speeds seem to be back... on Bandwidthplace got 183.4Kbits and on the myadsl local test 197.4Kbits/s also on rodents 208.1 Kbits/s and on tcpiq 201.38kbits/s but upload is a little bit of a let down at only 8.23KB/s or 65.82kbits/s.

Under 6km is the average rule of thumb.... but it will depend
on the topography, buildings...and even trees!!!

Ok thanx. Think I am just to far at the moment.

http://rational.co.za/MyWireless/calculate.php?x=30.91700&y=29.83100&tower=Dbn+Sea+Cow+Lake

Maybe when Overport Tower is up. Also what Signal strenght must you have to use Sentech 10%, 20%, 30%?

Thanx.

Actually the Overport tower (still not ready yet) has been "re-located"
to South Ridge Road (Inverness) but will still be to far away from
you (Westville I presume)????
You may well have to wait until the later part of this year.
As for signal strength... I have managed to connect at 7-8% without
problems.

Anyone else out there using the new "Bay of Plenty"???
I would be interested to compare ping times /download speeds etc.

Just an advanced warning here:
Towers will be going off one by one on Monday (14th) and Tuesday (15th) mornings between 03:00 and 09:00 for about 20 to 30 minutes each.
I have not worked out a sequence yet but will probably start with MalPark.
We are commissioning and re-commissioning all the Towers and hopefully upgrading the firmware at the same time.

Thats good news. Will be interesting to see the performance
when the new 4.2.1.8 firmware is on both the Tower and the device.
