Just my 2 cents...

If you live near or are running off the exchanges on the corner of Verdi and Marimba in Sontraal Heights you might be in for a long wait. When Telkom sold me the line they said ADSL will be possible with a speed of up to 2MB. I canceled the ADSL installation after a month as nothing was happening from their side.

When speaking to the lady from Telkom when I was busy cancelling the line, she confirmed that it was not within in their financial budget this year to upgrade that exchange!!! So I would have waited maybe another 6 months like a poephol for my ADSL. What pisses me off most is the agent who sold me the line would have known this too but he said nothing just wanting to make the sale!

They still billed me for the phone line, but that will be another fight as I refuse to pay for it seeing they sold something to me under false pretenses.

Probably very close to you, had the same bull**** from Telkom. Waited 2.5 months, then complained to ICASA. Everytime there was an issue at work, I had to drive odd hours to the office.

It wasn't even 2 weeks and my adsl and everything was up and running.

What I suspect the deal is, (since I got some Du Plessis guys number/port) is that Telkom is to lazy/busy to open up those ports for new users and remove the older ones.

Not within their financial budget, pffff

I logged a complaint earlier this week. Telkom tested and found no issues. Since, my pings has been the lowest it has ever been. Coincidence? Only time will tell.

I have now contacted ICASA regarding this issue. I am quite frankly fed up with an under par ADSL line after 6PM!

Just to add, I have contacted

Nthabiseng Borotho | Private Secretary to the Minister of Communications|

Received a direct response as it has been passed onto Telkom Head office!

Good, I raised a formal dispute with Telkom yesterday regarding my invoice. I also stated I will dispute any further invoicing related to the DSL Faster service until such time as the performance have been rectified to an acceptable level as set out in their terms and conditions.
I also threatened them with ICASA, but it seems I'm to late now. :D

its that time of the evening again. cant do anything with my internet. isnt this just friggin awesome. lucky this page opened actually. have to refresh 7 trillion times.

i find it amazing that the accounts departments works like a dream, but nothing els does. they can take my money with ease, but cant give me what i pay for.

AND!!! on top of that, a couple of my disputes have just been ignored, or deleted actually. i dit get a small refund at the start, but now they think i should pay the full amount for some reason. not gonna happen. CPA + ICASA thankyouplease

Telkom will only refund me for the time a fault was open. Not for between when they merely closed it and me finding out and opening a new one.

strange how they cant use their internal DSLAM fault references.

obviously if the DSLAM is faulty all the subs on it will be too..

logic?

im taking this to the CPA and contacting ICASA too next week. then i will try claim more than just what is owed to me.
