I been googling to find out the coverage and availability of DVB-H is without much luck. What is the story with DVB-H in Cape Town? The whole November 1 Digital TV launch seems to have been a big waste of time since most people can not get any signal. I am considering buying a N96 and wondering how long the wait will be before DVB-H works in Cape Town. Anyone clued up on this?

Don't expect to see a commercial launch of DVB.H before the 2010 World Cup, basically don't get a cell phone with the intention or hope of making use of DVB-H unless you'll be using your phone for more than 2 years or in another country where they do have DVB-H.

Don't confuse DVB-T with DVB-H...

Icasa has just issued a request for two mobile TV providers. I haven't been following this but I think it is for people to build and run a mobile TV signal distributio0n network.

So it will be ages before things get up and running properly.

?

Possibly ICASA has announced that they will license 2 Mobile TV players... ICASA don't actually ask people to do it.

Yaa thanks, I've wikip'd it already. I'm just assuming dvb-h will be available around the same time, since dstv has advertised it for quite a while.

Digital Terrestrial TV is already available, they just haven't manufactured the boxes so we can make use of it yet, that will probably happen next year. DVB-H has yet to be licensed which is why it will take longer, and let's be realistic there are very few phones that support it and far fewer people who can afford those phones, it's understandibly not a priority (not to mention the cost of implementation). I believe that FIFA has stated DVB-H has to be available for the world cup (I*could be wrong) so look for the launch just before that.

USIM??

Anyone know where to get a vodacom USIM to gain access to dstv mobile?
With my current sim card it detects the "DSTV mobile" programme guide but is unable to set the programme guide.

*sigh* i get the same -- wish someone would clarify this...

I just got an N96. Is it possible to get DVB-H to work. I can see the programme guide, but not authorised to subscribe. I have a 64k sim.

Ive never tried it with the N96.
But when the Samsung P910 was lauched you need a 128k sim...
Im sure a vodashop can help you with a sim swap.
