DVB-H release date?

Remember our dearest minister's budget speech of May 2007 ...

I HAVE TAKEN THE POLICY DECISION, that Mobile Broadcasting Services will be provided
on a single network with national coverage, using the DVB-H standard. The network, which will
form an integral part of the national ICT backbone infrastructure, will accordingly be operated on
the basis of open and non-discriminatory access principles.

Bascially torpedoed any competition in our local DVB-H industry, probably to find some other legitemacy for the money pit that is Sentech.

Ivy is involved! DVB-H will never happen.

That is disgusting. I see DVB-H as a revolution of note. I would just have to move to a different country to get it then.

Ah now i remember!

Thanks ic. Just came back from leave so i'm getting up to speed with alles :D

DO you need to have a TV license for this?

Many customers i had were confused about this Live TV and the streaming tv on Vodafone Live. They thought the live tv was on Vodafone Live, and this one guy argued with me that its false advertising.

It worked 2 years ago, I got a Sagem TV phone, worked well... I wonder why its taking so long?

Yes it did work well, now DSTV cut the signal to the phone that THEY gave me to trial...
They phoned me last month asking if I had received the update package...I said no, and they were apparently supposed to contact me soon, which never happened

Guys did you not read my post above. Your government has decided that only they (I'm guessing via Sentech) have the right to put up DVB-H broadcast network.

So no matter how much Multichoice (or anyone else) want to start broadcasting content commercially via DVB-H, they have to wait for the IvyTV network to be built.

Are you sure it's Sentech and not Multichoice?
Multichoice is not affiliated to the government, but they have both the intent and means to put up their own DVB-H broadcast network if granted the neccessary spectrum. Unfortunately Ivy has decided than no one get spectrum so we sit and wait.

I'm pretty sure if MC would have been granted this spectrum, we would have had commercial DVB-H services 6-12 months ago.
