DVB-T2

Amino, go to Game/Makro and compare the SD source quality on the LA32C530 and PS42C430. I know which one you won't be walking out with, in preparation for another month's worth of saving... ;)

ya the proof is in the pudding here we all know that

my main point is that he is a tv series nut, but I can promise you that you will land up watching HD tv series eventually and then that USB port on that LCD is gonna be useless....

/facepalm

:D

Until government says that DTT will be unencrypted, there is absolutely no reason to pay a premium for a screen that is DVB-T2 capable.

Are there any DVB-T2 capable screens available at this stage?

dude what k@k are you talking :erm:

that is totally wrong.....

are you ignorant are just leading ppl astray on purpose!!

edit : going into a meeting now, I pray that when I get back someone has spoken some sense to Amino. Both regarding how the DVB-T2 signal will be received and why NOT to buy a TV for its media playing abilities (which in this case happens to be a LCD)

ai...

I never meant that the DStv decoder could receive the DVB signal...
If he has DStv, DVB would not matter to him? Or explain to me how it would affect him?

DVB-T2 is totally unrelated to DSTV. Its basically a means to pick a TV channel over-the-air (like SABC) except the signal is not analogue, its digital.

Once this eventually is rolled out you gonna need a set-top-box anyhoo.... so all the ppl that have bought TV's with DVB-T tuners are useless...... Dont worry about the DTV goodies at the moment. Everyone is gonna need a set-top-box eventually

If it is all you can afford go with the Sony but do yourself a favour and save 1k and go for 720p.

You won't notice the difference between 720p and 1080p on a 32 incher and on a tight budget the 1k will help you with the PVR (Which is 720p anyway.)

:p

ya ya ya you know that I misunderstood you! :D

Everything meant in good sense...

I was also considering this, but have not made up my mind.
But a mediaplayer would play 1080p. If someone can convince the OP to also get an mediaplayer

Sorry, thought the choice was the Sony 32EX400 (Or whichever the Sony 32 inch 720p TV is.)

You can pick one up for R4.1k and it's about all you can get at that pricepoint besides no name brand stuff.

What recommendations are there for a multimedia player, who supplied them (in Cape Town) and what kind of cost are we looking at?
See below, that is R1500-R2000 over budget without the multimedia player.

PS42C430 - R6999 (Hi-Fi Corp)
PS42C430 - R6499 (Makro)
PS42C430 - R6299 (Game)
LG 42PJ250 - R6499 (Makro)

At that rate there is a C530 LCD at Game:
LA40C530 - R6999 (Game)

You can get the Samsung plasma for around R5800 if you look around. Stick to Samsung. Stay away from the LCD - does not suit your purpose (not to mention you could get a bigger, better picture quality plasma AND a media player for the LCD's price). If you want SD TV/series quality, plasma is the only way. ;)

My folks have one (The 32 inch, 720p Sony) in their bedroom which they use for Blu Ray disks and for the price it does the job well enough.

Also, even if your input is 1080p you won't notice the difference on a tv that size.

Sometimes that extra R1k is too much and you need to stick to your budget. The Sony Bravia is still much better than the no name brand stuff at that price point.
