Dvd rom surprise

Optical storage media shattering in a drive ... what a load of hogwash. A drive could not generate the centrifugal or mechanical forces to disintegrate the optical grade polycarbonate a disc is moulded from. If indeed this happened, the disc was damaged before it was inserted in the drive.

you can never believe it until it happens to you.I dont blame you though sounds ridiculous but not impossible.

I'm actually suprised that the drive still works. Both times I've seen this, the drive was damaged beyond repair. And it makes a lot of noise, how did she not hear it?

to be honest i have no idea how she didn't hear it and i was not there at the time i only arrived to find the aftermath of what had happened. She doesn't really know alot about computers so assume she just thought it was part of the process.Mayb the computer was unattented at the time of explosion.I should really ask her what exactly happened.I was to excited to see the remains i forgot about the questions Lol.

Happened to me aswell... Was watching Pulp Fiction from a CD, but the movie wasnt written to good, so it had to seek and reseek a lot... About 30 minutes before the end of the movie, the cd just shattered, the DVD Drive did not work afterwards...

I also saw the Mythbusters episode, they got it to shatter by using damaged disks AND a power drill... They couldnt get it to do it in a dvd-rom, but it does happen, maybe just 0.001% of the time, and no matter how long Mythbusters test it, to get that one moment that the whole earth is working at (How many cd's get used each day in the WORLD?) Would be impossible.

Myth plausible ;)
