e-tag beep

Sasol is however coining it... and who are Sasol's major shareholders? (I honestly don't know, but I assume the government and/or the ANC's investment crooks have a large stake)
Sasol is a public company and anyone with money can buy in (I suspect their shareholding information is available freely in their reports). If the government has shares there then they invested like anyone else can, actually Sasol don't have a very good relationship with the government. Trevor Manuel did have a bit of a storm with them and even suggested imposing a windfall tax on them when he was still fin. minister.

That's why I asked the question. My assumption was that as an ex-parastatal, the company's shares were still held to some degree by the government.

I'm willing to bet the R2 will be clawed back many times over in "admin fees", "email fees", "sms fees", "statement fees", "fee fees", "incorrect fees", "incorrect fee reversal fees" and "****you fees" within the first 2 months.

i lol'd so hard i made a peepee :D:D:D:D:D:D

yip, some sense at last! Anybody who thinks Sasol is ripping us off can buy their shares and if you take the time to monitor their share price, you will see that it has not been a very good share to own over the past few years....

Just stumbled onto this thread now:

Venda should not be banned.... it's not against any law to hold an ignorant opinion - most ANC voters fall into this category - Venda probably works for one of the affiliated e-toll companies and is obviously afraid he will lose his job when the whole thing crashes

On the arguments about not paying because the road is supposedly not better - in rain the road is terrible and dangerous, more so than before, but it is better in the dry,
BUT that should have NOTHING to do with refusing to pay e-tolls - e-tolls are less than 60% efficient to collect the funds for the roads, whereas a 8-11c/ltr required fuel levy would result in a greater than 99% collection efficiency (I don't expect Venda to grasp this)

So, the GFIP is a needed project, very wastefully executed and badly funded - the funding will have to change

My e-tag beeped four times when driving underneath gantries on the N1 South yesterday. According to the user manual, this indicates that there is an error. Is this because:

  • The e-tag is defective?
  • The tolling system is not yet operational?
  • I have no funds loaded in my account?

One beep for each of those and the last one as a thank you for filling the ANC's coffers.

Maybe you don't have funds.

You cannot fool all of the people all of the time, but it sure seems that you can fool some of the people all of the time.....

The etag beep is fun, evrytime there is beep, I tend to look at my passengers reaction. Its quite funny to be a taxi driver.

the fun will soon disappear when every beep costs you ~R4 and you hope and pray there is no other car with same number plate as yours
