You are missing the point completely, the structure of the foreign companies, e.g. the Swedish subsidiary is where some of the profits can funnel back in terms of kickbacks to avoid local SA law, but if there was some actual interest in it it could be followed up on as companies in the arms deal started getting in trouble in the EU zone despite a blind eye being turned here.

Right. And did the arms deal contracts get reversed? Nope...not even after public admissions of corruption by some of the culprits.

If the ANC loses say JHB and Ekurhuleni you don't think some sums on dropping a comrade for the benefit of the rest might not change?

Oh I'm sure the ANC is quite willing to throw some people under the bus if it would fix it. I just don't see it happening as a whole. It would require:
1) Someone stepping up with evidence
2) ANC admitting their major project is corrupt
3) ANC taking a big PR hit from going back on something their most senior people vocally supported.
4) Finding a legal solution to the web of contracts (which I'd guess was never designed to be dismantled)
5) Finding a financial solution to the 20+ billion hole

Its possible in a theoretical sense yes, but as I said...needs a unicorn. I doubt even 1 of those will happen let alone all 5. Given their track record I'd say they'll put their heads in the sand and have this thing limp along for years.

That said - I'm all for keeping the pressure up. Maybe it'll teach government that their actions have consequences...and in the case of big long term contracts those are serious.
