E-toll rate revealed

Cool let me go buy an e-tag quickly

nice try though

Wahahahaha... these monkeys don't have a clue do they?

Even if the rate was 1c per km, there would still be massive civil disobedience on this issue.

Swines!

Oh well, lets see what happens with the judicial review - to be honest i am not expecting much.

And the rate for people without the tag? Because that will be me!

God i hope Cosatu still opposes this because its clear that the rest of us who pay taxes: 1. cant protest to save our lives, 2. cant rely on the courts to stop this

The 30-day period expires one day before the start of the judicial review of e-tolling on November 26.

Coincidence? I think not!

All our selfish ex-terrorist politicians know is how to be corrupt, dishonest and sneaky.

I can't wait for this...less traffic on the road!!!
and the damn trucks will not travel in peak...

R500 cap a month is nothing compared to my 2hours a day * 20 = 40 hours in traffic.
I'll pay it with a smile. You guys need to wake up and see the benefits :)

You need to wake up and see the extent of corruption and wastage in the system. Of your R500, probably R50 is actually for the road maintenance. And then you need to realise that next year, the R500 cap will be R1000. And R1500 the year after. Ad nauseum.

The biggest question in my mind is, for how long will the rate remain at 30 cents per km? Where is the long-term tariff plan? What stops SANSCUM from increasing the rate by 50%+ within a year?

Explain? Does one pay less per km if you travel during off-peak times i.e. 2 in the morning? Unless I'm missing something I'm pretty sure the 30 cents p/km is applicable 24/7.

You can't really be that dumb, can you?

Why didn't they spend the R14 billion on improving public transport to alleviate this problem?? ..oh wait, that's right, because it would actually benefit society as opposed to a few douchebag politicians!

If more people sign up for e-tolling, you will be back to square one with an additional R500 a month to pay. That is the fundamental problem here.

Only to come off the empty highway to roads that will be even more clogged up, resulting in even more time spent in traffic.

apart from paying for road upgrades the biggest problem is R1.4 billion EVERY YEAR going to adminstration expenses seeing as how they've implemented a cumbersome, outdated method of collection.
