The road upgrade was never planned for the World Cup and GFIP was actually still fully under construction for the duration of it???
 
Ah yes they focused on R21 and then they blocked off the lanes again anyway. I think we have pretty shoddy road contracting work going on though.

i heard somewhere it cost about a million bucks to build 1Km of new road. (this is most likely nowhere near the actual cost in todays terms, especially on a multi lane highway)

You're nowhere near the real figure. Simply put, it is costing us R35million per kilometre...

The GFIP and local government stated time and time again that the WC and GFIP projects had absolutely nothing to do with each other...

Ceebee was referring to what it SHOULD cost, even if it were R10 million per km that still only adds up to a fair amount under R2 billion, I would love to know how that escalated to R20 Billion???

Then everyone would love to know why a R14 billion toll system was needed when a simple Gauteng only fuel levy would have been easier and MUCH cheaper (with 100% recovery).
 
Very quiet in the e-toll front. Are they coming online ?
