E-tolls are cheap for users: Sanral

R450pm to be spent on E-tolls is R450 per month spent in addition to what I already do, to get to and from work. Free is less than "cheap".

I am not registering for e-tag! They will have to come looking for me........

A new angle every day now? Something tells me Sanral is getting nervous.

They are getting beyond nervous.

eTolling will fall flat on its face in Gauteng. If they get a 50% compliance rate I will be monumentally surprised.

And they'd probably still be massively screwed, even with such a relatively high rate of compliance (compared to what they will probably see).

I like how they're trying to cater for everyone:
1. Threaten
2. Appeal to sense of civic duty
3. Beg
4. Try to convince people as to how small an amount it will cost

The thing is that Kapsch has paid the bribes, and now expects a return on investment. I think the pressure on cANCer to get the e-toll up and running is tremendous!

Even one cent is too much - because of the Government's mismanagement my electricity bill is 4 times what it use to be , petrol is at least R 5-00 more per liter and so forth....

I am staying in the Western Cape and try to fight as hard as the Gautengers about this farce - this is only the lead project and if successful will be implemented nationwide......

I even made a donation to OUTA.

Don't forget

5. "This is what Mandela wanted"
6. E-toll is the only way to fund this
7. Think of all the time you will save
8. "It's the right thing to do"

Oh, there was also the Apartheid excuse that I forgot about.

i will not pay for these E-tolls come hell or high water. Both SANRAL and ANC can go ***** themselves

Yip sound like propaganda to me. Unfortunately people are generally susceptible to it. Basically they have to keep hammering in on those and before you know it, it will be truth in people's minds.

Cheap?

The fuel levy averages ~20c per km (depending on your consumption).

SANRAL believes they need a minimum EXTRA 150% above the fuel levy to pay for the freeways (30c per km if you have a tag).

I don't see how you can call an additional 150% cost cheap, unless you are completely out of touch with reality.
