Anybody know what to do with old and damaged solar panels? AFAIK there's nothing in them which can be recycled, but our normal rubbish depots don't want to take such things.

Hi Terencek,

Our company handles e-waste for mining companies in Mpumalanga and North-West with offices in Centurion as well as Witbank.

If you have not yet found a solution to dispose of the panels I will have a look into it for you.
We handle hazardous waste such as CRT monitors containing lead and mercury so I am quite sure we will be able to help ;)

We collect e-waste at no charge if the quantity is above 2-ton and we also offer compensation for valuable e-waste.
Something we are seeing a lot of recently is clients of ours preferring that items be refurbished (which we do) and then be donated to charitable organizations of they're choice or from community feedback.

If anyone needs more information please feel free to PM me.

i speak under correction, there might be a place in between Oblivion and Lansdowne Road. I can't recall the name or the address I'm afraid.

Hi,

I've got +-6 old UPS's (various brands) to get rid of and some toner cartridges (various HP printers).

Anyone in CPT collect this type of thing?

Thanks,
J

Hey guys

So I find this thread interesting and also sad. I am a vintage computer collector, and I am always on the hunt for old equipment that people are getting rid of.

if you guys see any Pentium 1 and older stuff, please holler in my direction, I will gladly pick up from you in the greater Gauteng area, and may even offer a few $'s for something special.

Cheers!

Incredible Connection will take it for free. At least that way you can get it off your hands.

Hey guys

If anyone in Gauteng has some "E-waste" that they want to get rid of, please drop me a PM.

My friend and I are both students and we run a private outreach project where we collect broken/unwanted computer
parts, towers, screens, printers, laptops etc and then slowly but surely repair and rebuild them. We normally try and collect
as many things as possible over a period of two months and then spend a couple of weekends trying to build and repair
whatever we can.

After that is all done, we ask around and donate whatever we managed to fix to people in and around our areas who
are deserving. Over the last couple of months we have managed to repair and rebuild quite a lot of towers, laptops and printers,
but it is quite difficult to source some parts.

Every now and then we require one last part to complete a computer/laptop, then we end up investing our own money to get
it done.

This is just our way of giving back on our student-y budget :)

If anyone has anything laying around that they would be willing to donate, please let me know. I would be more than wiling to come and collect.

I stay in Alberton, but I am at UJ in Auckland Park every week day. I also don't mind driving around :)

Any help would be appreciated
