You mean trade in month, yeah I dunno what's up. They used to have it in Feb and Aug, back in 2010. Last year it was only Feb. Certainly getting less "generous" these days.

Yes, looks like they're not that keen on the green.

For IC Trade in Specials--how does this work?
I have an old defunct HP nw8240 that is just sitting as a door stopper--is this a trade-in material? How much?
Also have a fully functional 3 year old eMachines D620 (AMD Athlon 64, x1250 graphics with 4GB DDR2 RAM, 320 7200RPM HDD, 14") running Win XP Pro.--How much for this? And does IC Pavilion or Springfield do trade-in only or any IC is doing this?

I just want to get rid of these machines properly rather than just collecting dust in my cupboard.

@Smiley, check their website and weekly brochure for more details. http://www.incredible.co.za/StandardContentNewsReviews.aspx?ID=34
If u hurry, u can still grab the one for this weekend past to get an idea.

edit: Or try their blog. Or PM me if u want a copy.

AFAIK, the equipment doesn't have to even be working. So a full PC will get u discounts on laptops and tower cases. Traded in monitors get u discounts on LCD/LED screens.

You see I took both the machines to Springfield park yesterday--the TEch guys over the counter seemed very unhelpful, almots like they did not want me to "dump" the machines with them--I was prepared to get a new laptop after trading in these 2. he even told me to "dump" the machines in Makro e-waste bin across the road--I thought the purpose of such a tradein service was to take advantage of such offers.

I am not sure--I will probably donate the fully functioning eMachines laptop to an organization of my choice. and try another branch of IC to "dump" the HP.

Man...those guys seems to useless...

@Smiley, thats really bad service by the sounds of it. Complain to the manager? Unless by some chance not all branches take part in the trade-in sale....

This one did--he started off by telling me that I will have to fill in form and show proof of ID--so I thought I would show him the machines--only then he changed his tune--I had the 2 machines with me; but he did not even want to see them. Suggested I buy the low end HP or Dell netbooks and dispose of the machines in Makro e-waste-bin.

I will try the Pavilion or Gateway branch this weekend when I get a chance.

PS: what would you recommend I get--I need a small really portable laptop for the move; do a lot of MS Office and emailing. need screen 14" and below. (I already have a power laptop 17" that is proving to be a lug on my ageing shoulders--so want one when I travel around the country--this happens at least 2 x a month). Price tag: up to R8000; (hoping the tradein help).

I've just had a quick glance through this thread...

I've also had a look at the IC 'site, but didn't really find the info' I was looking for. Do you get paid for your eWaste?

I ask because I see some of you are discarding perfectly usable equipment; something I am often on the lookout for, for learning, experimenting with different setups, home usage, etc.

Would any of you be interested in a 'Pay It Forward'-type thread? I'm sure I could find at least a few small items with a small hunt...

Why throw it away if someone else can use it? :)

If you're getting money/credit back, thanks for reading and move along, I can understand your motive then. :)

I can think of only one person I've met in the last twenty years who has a dot-matrix printer, and they're still using it. :D

Here is a picture of one of the containers at Makro

And all this time I thought they were just massive advertising billboards... which they are.. but anyway I'll make use of them.
