Ok, so FYI for everyone. The antenna is on the back of the modem by the CE and serial numbers.
I can confirm that the external antenna connector most definitely doesn't connect to the primary antenna circuit.

I doubt its directional as such tho... never turned my laptop upside down to test and on the router it's irrelevant![]()
On the picture is SECOND antenna!
Main one is around the end of the stick - close to the LED. Main one printed on the film, consist of the 1/4 wave vibrators for the 2100 (short one) and 900MHz (long strip) and wrapped around PCB.
Antenna on the picture working as diversity antenna with low gain. Even "normal" 1/4wave vibrator works much better.
My modem inside room get 3M download. When i connect 85mm wire to the connector it going up to 6-7M! Wire dia 0.55mm, total lenght - 90mm. DO NOT INCERT IT DEEPER THAN 5mm!!!
When you incert this "antenna" to the connector it disconnect this internal one which shown on the picture in the first post.

Are you referring to the E1820 or the other models ?
