Can anybody advise where i can buy one of these e220 HSDPA USB Modems without taking out a contract?

I just want to get the modem, and a pre-paid card and use.

From my searching I mostly come up with bid or buy links. Any stores that sell them?

Try your local Vodashop.

Hi

Try Cape ads/Junkmail for 2nd hand modems.

Okay, i thought they only sold them with contracts.

Any idea what the price would be?

Shouldn't be that expensive anymore. Say between R800 to R1200?

I may be wrong.

You can even get the K3565 for about R1000+- . It all depends on the Vodashop and the consultant you're buying it from.

You can also check out Game if you want a new device, otherwise bargains are to be found on gumtree and the likes.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Will check out the vodashop first, and then gumtree etc if they still expensive.

If you want a new one, try Autopage as well as Vodashop. I got mine through Autopage. Vodacom and Nashua Mobile would only sell them with a contract.

... when I asked, in the specific stores I asked in ... policies can change and different stores often seem to have different knowledge of what they can sell ...

You're definitely on the right track by going prepaid. There's absolutely no financial advantage to getting a data contract. Prepaid is far more convenient, there's no nasty out of bundle surprises at the end of the month, and the data bundle charges are exactly the same as for a contract.

I'm also in the market for a pre-paid USB 3G modem.
Please let us (know) where you got the best deal ;-)
